A gallery of my crochet work, both original, and pattern-based.
New blog of my work. Follow it.
And maybe someday I'll update this blog again. Ha.
The television show taught international understanding to children of the Reagan era and the Cold War
Elmo, Fozzie Bear, the Count, Miss Piggy and 17 other Jim Henson puppets are coming to the American History Museum
Stephen Fry to Kermit the Frog: "Did you know that frog bones form a new ring every year when the frog is hibernating, just like trees do? Scientists can count these rings to discover the age of the frog."
Steve Martin and Kermit the Frog face off in a duel of Dueling Banjos.
Never thought this would happen, but Kermit has a new friend.
Meet my new "catryoshka" tattoo by the amazing Zoe Bean of Eight of Swords in Brooklyn. One more session to go, and it will be complete!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FRANK OZ/JEDI DAY!!!
On this day in 1944, Frank Oz -- voice of many iconic Muppets, and director of many fine films -- was born.
Several decades later on this day (1983), the film Return of the Jedi was released in theaters, breaking box office records.
Twist: Frank Oz is the voice of Yoda. Coincidence?
Supported by the City of New York and Henson's family, the new Henson exhibit will house nearly 400 puppets, costumes and other props used in his various film and television productions, including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and The Dark Crystal.
HAPPY WIZ DAY!!!!
On this day in 1856, Lyman Frank Baum -- author of The Wizard of Oz -- was born.
Who the heck gives their child the name "Frank" as a middle name??
Anyway...
The Muppets have definitely delved into Oz before (most recently in an appalling TV remake with Ashanti, back in 2005); my most favorite being this sketch on The Muppets Go to the Movies, in 1981.
Apologies for the creepiness of Kermit in drag.
HAPPY AMA DAY!!!
People have been getting on my case about not maintaining this blog, so I'm back after a long hiatus. I'm sure all two of you missed me.
Anyway....
On this day in 1847, the American Medical Association was organized in Phildelphia, PA. Go celebrate by hugging your favorite doctor or something.
I feel incredibly honored to have met this kind, gentle, creative soul. I don't think many people realize how much of a strong role she played in creating the Muppets.
"[Ed] Koch was asked what it was like to guest star alongside the Muppets in the 1984 movie 'Muppets Take Manhattan': 'Better than playing with human beings,' he answered. 'Much more decent.'"
HAPPY WHITESNAKE DAY!!!
On this day in 1987, Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" became the #1 single in the US. To mark the occasion, Kermit is dressed as the band's front-man: David Coverdale (who -- oddly enough -- looks slightly like 1980s Steve Whitmire).
This has nothing to with Muppets, but my cat is famous on cat-shaming.tumblr.com.
Wow
