Thorium nuclear reactor trial begins, could provide cleaner, safer, almost-waste-free energy

At a test site in Norway, Thor Energy has successfully created a thorium nuclear reactor — but not in the sense that most people think of when they hear the word thorium. The Norwegians haven’t solved the energy crisis and global warming in one fell swoop — they haven’t created a cold fusion thorium reactor. What they have done, though, which is still very cool, is use thorium instead of uranium in a conventional nuclear reactor. In one fell swoop, thorium fuel, which is safer, less messy to clean up, and not prone to nuclear weapons proliferation, could quench the complaints of nuclear power critics everywhere.

Breedlove Passport OM/MMe This is quite a remarkable instrument. With a solid mahogany top and laminated mahogany back and sides, this guitar produces a deep, punchy tone that makes chords sound fuller and darker than my other acoustics. The orchestra body makes it a bit heavier, but it feels easier to play than a traditional dreadnought body while adding a good deal of projection to the mix. Complimented with a smooth, satiny neck, it grips the hand perfectly and allows for easy finger motion on the frets. The built-in preamp does nicely through an amplifier, and the tuner is amazingly accurate. All in all, I'm happy to have a quality acoustic guitar for less than $500 that plays and sounds as well as any Taylor or Martin guitar costing more.
