This is an independent roleplay blog for Sir Galahad. A knight of King Arthur's Round Table. Mainly for characters from legend and BBC Merlin. But not selective. Multiverse and OCs are always welcome here! This blog is SFW, but anything not will be tagged as #nsfw (Mun and Muse are of age :D)

“They just…” she swallowed, “they wanted to know how that bruise I had faded so quickly. I don’t even think they believed me, but it just slipped out– it slipped out and I’d promised I wouldn’t tell a soul, I’m so sorry,” Her face crumpled again, and she quickly bowed her head, bringing a hand to frantically wipe her eyes.

"Tanith... Hey...” Galahad frowned with worry when she broke down into more tears. “It’s okay,” he whispered putting his hands on her shoulders to give her some support. “I doubt others will believe a rumor of a knight that could heal people. And even if they do,” he gave her shoulders a comforting squeeze, “I’ll figure something out. I always do.”

“Just…don’t do that again, all right?” Jenna said, lifting her head to look up at him. “I don’t care how quickly you have to leave, just don’t leave without at least telling me goodbye. Disappearing like that…I thought it was my fault. That I had done something to make you leave. You’re one of the few actual friends I have here…one of the few people who treats me like just a person rather than the Crown Princess…I can’t lose that.”

Galahad shook his head. “Jenna... I promise I won’t do it again.” He put a hand to his heart hoping that it would emphasize that he meant it. “I’ll write a note if I have to or tell someone else to let you know.” He let out a sigh. “And I don’t want you blaming yourself for anything. We’re friends and even if I tried to treat you like the Crown Princess, you wouldn’t let me.” He laughed a little. “So I wouldn’t just leave if you did something. Besides, that might be considered treason,” he smiled a little hoping that would make her laugh.

“Yeah,” Galahad nodded. “I know. Trust me, I know.” Galahad smiled at her slightly. He offered her his sleeve to dry her eyes. “I’ll figure something out. As long as it’s just one person, everything should be fine.” Then he decided to add, “I’m not mad. I promise.”

Galahad turned to see his mother standing there, watching him carefully. Instinctively, he covered his cheek with his hand even though he knew it was too late to hide it from her. He just didn’t want her to look at it any longer. “It’s nothing,” he lied as he turned away, hoping to retreat to his own room to care for it himself. He didn’t want to bother her. “Fell is all. It’s really nothing serious.” He tried to put her at ease, so she wouldn’t worry too much.

“ Let us see.” she responded, entering, gently taking his hand away from his face. She frowned then, said “ You fell? Galahad, it is  a sin to lie. I would that you simply be truthful with me.”

he was a good lad, and little thought of himself over the well-being of others. but sometimes she wished he would care for himself. She could not always be there for him ( which she regretted ) often away trying to make her way for the both of them. “ please, Gal, talk with me.”

He tried to turn his head away, but the look in her eyes told him she had already seen enough. “I’m sorry...” He whispered. He felt his cheeks burn in both embarrassment and humiliation at being caught in a lie. “But honestly, mother, I am not lying. It was a small matter - a scuffle is all. Someone needed my help.” He smiled, but winced slightly when the bruise stretched. “It will heal, honest.”

“— Don’t look at me like that. Please.”

She averted her gaze, unwilling to look Galahad in the eye. She couldn’t bear to see the anger– or worse– disappointment etched into his features.

           “…I didn’t mean to.”

“I just… don’t understand…”

He whispered honestly when she turned her head away from him. He believed in her more than anyone. He looked up to her. He trusted her, but now…

“Why…?”

She pressed her lips together in a firm line, brow furrowing as she fought valiantly against the welling tears in her eyes.

“–because it hurt too much.”

Looking away from the tears and down at his feet, he crossed his arms. None of this was her fault. She wasn’t to blame. It was his fault for putting her in that situation.

“I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have said anything.”

“Please– please don’t be sorry,” she swallowed thickly, eyes still averted. “I know I said I wouldn’t do it any more. And I meant it. I really meant to keep that promise, but… but I didn’t know…”

The look in her eyes was too much for him. He took a few steps forward to pull her into a hug. “It’s okay,” he whispered. “I know you meant what you said. I get that.”

Feeling his arms, Tanith couldn’t hold back the tears any more. Somehow this felt worse than enduring an angry reaction. She didn’t deserve pity. “It’s not okay,” she choked, the tension in her shoulders melting away just slightly as she forced hersel to relax against him. “It’s not– I shouldn’t have.”

He held her close as she cried, whispering, “It’s okay,” over and over. As upset as he was, he really couldn’t stay mad. She had kept the secret for so long, and it was bound to slip out accidentally. “Tanith, just tell me... Who have you told?”

It had been a long while since Galahad had been back to Camelot. He never told her that he was going, and he was worried she'd be angry with him. But seeing her sitting at her desk and looking over some documents, he knew he needed to say at least something to her even if it was just a simple hello. "Hey, Jenna..."

With her parents away on matters of state, as it seemed they so often were, Jenna had been left to perform the royal duties at home, and right then that meant reviewing a series of documents that were really extremely frustrating and long-winded. She pressed her fingertips to her temple in an attempt to stem the headache that was beginning to pound behind her eyes.

She hadn’t looked up from her work in hours, not even to eat her lunch, which sat untouched on the corner of the desk, but the sound of a familiar voice–one she hadn’t heard in months–immediately brought her head up. For a moment, Jenna blinked blankly at the young man, wondering whether she was hallucinating, but when he didn’t disappear, her eyes went wide and she got to her feet quickly enough that she almost knocked over her chair.

“Galahad! You’ve returned!” A grin spread across her face, then her brow furrowed in anger and concern. “Where have you been? Why did you leave without notice? I was worried about you!”

Galahad could only stare in shock. She had shifted from one emotion to the next so quickly he was actually a little concerned. “Er…” He didn’t really know how to go about this. Her father had been the one that sent him out. He didn’t want her to be angry with him because it was his fault for not letting her know that he was leaving.

“I had a task that needed to be accomplished.” He explained vaguely. “I wasn’t permitted to tell others. No one was to know about it…” He shifted for one foot to the other. His hands tucked in his pockets, and suddenly everything seemed more interesting to his eyes than the eyes watching him. “I’m sorry it took so long. Can you forgive me?” He didn’t want to lose his friend. She was one of the few people the same age as him in the castle.

“No one was to know,” Jenna parroted. “So, what, you could not even come say goodbye? Perhaps make up an excuse for leaving? Galahad…” She braced herself against the desk with one hand and pinched the bridge of her nose between her forefinger and thumb in an attempt to stave off the headache that was now getting worse. “You could have died, and I would never have known. What sort of task can be so important that you could let no one know that you were even leaving?”

“Jenna...” Galahad sighed. He knew she was upset, maybe even angry. “I really am sorry about that, but it was a quick decision and I didn’t have time to let anyone know.” He stepped into the room until he was standing by her desk. He moved a few papers as he spoke. “It required the utmost secrecy. The less people that knew the better, and even telling you... it could have potentially put you in danger.” He still didn’t want to tell her the details even though they were almost positive the threat was over. It was safer that way. “I’ll do anything to make up for this.”

Galahad had definitely taken a wrong turn somewhere along the line. He knew he should have asked for directions to the throne room, but he had honestly thought he knew it. He’d been there once before, anyway. Surely that would have been enough for him to get there. He should have known with his poor sense of direction that he would have end up lost. He just hoped no one saw him and thought he was trying to be shady or something.

He turned at the next chance, but found himself in a room. “Hello?” He called out, taking a small step forward. He was met by the sounds of a terrible cough. Worrying, he walked in and found a young woman laying in bed. Her face was pale and she looked terribly thin. “Are you alright?” He asked when she started coughing again. She stared at him with wide, surprised eyes. “Sorry, I heard you coughing… I got lost…” He began to ramble. “Do you need a glass of water?” He finally asked hoping it didn’t sound as awkward as it felt.
