Thank god artfight is next month and not this month, I really want to do that again this year. It was really fun last year. I think when we approach the start date this year I should do a hey link me your profile post so I can proactively hit some of you lovely people. God I hope my arms don't kick my fucking ass, I really want to be able to do lots of that.
Hey remember when I said I was going to do this as a low stakes thing over the weekend? I uh. I'm late. But it was nice having this as something to chip away at when I was deeply uninspired but wanted to be doing art.
Well I'm now up to a full year of uncleaned unposted scans... I should set aside some time to do that properly.

Some poor fucker becoming a monument to their own ambition because they had the hubris to lead their armies against a god. Probably somehow still alive, at least until someone puts them out of their misery.

With no spoilers for or allusions to the events of chapter 8, what's your best pitch for Spiderlight?
Oh god. I only read Spiderlight bc y'all spoiled chapter 8. Uhhhhh.
Spiderlight is a pulp fantasy novel about otherness and power centered around a party of adventurers who turn a spider into a man in order to defeat the Dark Lord in Evil Tower. Those are capitalized on purpose, that is what those things are called. It addresses its themes with the subtlety of a hammer but a fairly layered degree of nuance, and it's written by Adrian Tchaikovsky, man who is in love with both these themes in particular and also Spiders. It's fucking soaked in the limited perspective interiority of its characters.
Look, honestly the best pitch I can give for this book is that it has inspired a lot of very interesting discussion amongst a group of very smart fairly well-read people I hang out with on the internet all while being a pulp novel about defeating the Dark Lord in Evil Tower. It is a book that is short and easy to read and really wants to be discussed.
Y'all should read it.
