Things are going great over on the archive page. Have some lovely people working with us to gather things on our forum and via our email. Sorry we are not live at present but there is a lot of work and we are working close with people who knew Alan, so we are really passionate to make sure this is the best we can do before it's open.  Thanks for those helping on the forum, needing some more people who are really passionate about this project to help collate everything.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us via message and email with support for the archive project. We were surprised by the overwhelming positive well wishes for the project. Also thanks to those who have signed up to the archive forum so far. We have a nice collection of articles already that we are on with transferring to the website. A lot to do but baby steps. We are positive that we will have an amazingly detailed and exhaustive database in no time.

Since people have been asking to help with the archive. I threw together a quick forum where people can help us with submitting website content/interviews and so forth.

Something big is in the works...

So another reason for me not making a 'fan' version of the book (see earlier my Q&A post on facebook), is because now that the book is complete, I am free to finally work on the Alan Rickman Archive.

But an archive of what? Well an archive of everything Alan. Mostly focusing on interviews /promotional tours etc.

While we aware there are forum and other social media that share and save past interviews etc, we are gathering material that will be searchable with keywords, in one place, so everyone can access. It's something I've worked on before (not Alan related) and it works so well that I just had to do it for Alan.

I know I've personally wanted to find an interview in the past where I remember Alan saying something but couldn't find it. This site's purpose is to make that an easy process.

It's work in progress at present while we gather and organise enough articles and videos to open the site.

We are very excited about this project and others that knew our plans are also.

Just bear with us, it's a lot of work to get this off the ground smile emoticon

Today we received the book. Instead of just images I put together a little video. I think this shows the book off better than just a collection of images.

Note: I tried my best to keep all private text blurred and I believe I accomplished that with one a few words visible or artist names.

Project Questions answered

Here are some answers to some recent and most popular questions, including the recent donation link.

Q: I want to donate but how much is needed? A: I'm waiting for quotes from a few places. There are options, some cheaper and some are more expensive.. and some are stupid expensive (Small print amount doesn't help costs - online quotes have been between 150-600 depending on quality of print/materials etc) If we get enough donations to cover 100% cost, any remaining will be donated to a charity in Alan's name (prostate cancer research perhaps)  - https://www.paypal.me/alanrickmanproject

Q: Can I pay for a copy myself? / Can I get a digital copy? A: No sorry. Due to the very personal nature of some of the messages. There will be no public version except photos of the completed item and some non sensitive pages.

Q: I'm working on a message/artwork, can I still send it? A: I keep being asked to push the deadline back. In fact I set a new one last night for 24 hours. However after a lot of requests, I will let people still send me things until Sunday evening.

Q: Do you need any assistance? A: Thank you for the offers of help. I'm fine with putting the book together and I have a proof reader to double check everything already.

Q: Can you tell me what page my message is on / can I get a screenshot of my message in the book. A: I have to be a pain and say no to the screenshot request. Some are on pages with other messages and everything is to be kept private, and to be honest it's just a white page with text (I'll show a sample page later). Also remember there are over 1000 people taking part, to tell all requests what page, would take a lot of time and things are still moving around in the draft at present.

Q: Do you have anything other than paypal for donations? A: Paypal is easier as I already had an account so I just linked the project email to it. I don't want to go into setting up anything new etc.
