Trusty couldn’t hide the smile that broke through the stern face he’d been trying his hardest to maintain. “Ya got my word that I ain’t gonna get myself into any kinda trouble… On the front line, though. I’ll still help whenever somebody asks but I ain’t gonna be doin’ any of the actual fightin’.” He widened his eyes. “Don’t ya dare, she wouldn’t let me out of her sight if she found out I had anythin’ to do with fightin’ that thing.” He chuckled and opened the fridge, scanning the options. “We’ve got… leftovers. Pizza, barbecue… a half eaten sandwich that’s probably not edible anymore.”
Alani laughed. “You’re not suppose to break character, Dad.” She said rolling her eyes. “Alright... well I’m trusting it. I don’t want anything to happen to you or whatever.” She grumbled out. The older she got the worse she got at expression her feelings and saying things like that. Smiling she nodded. “Oh, I would dare. I mean technically I wasn’t even suppose to leave her apartment. She’s probably going to freak out in about... thirty minutes when she gets home and realizes I’m not there.” She smiled bigger. “Ew.. what dad, Seriously? Left over pizza is the best though.”
