PM: You say that as if you fear I would do something silly. Yes, I promise. As long as you promise you will be safe too. Keep your head low, don't look anyone in the eye, and always nod and do whatever they ask you. I promise, it will be over quickly.

PM: That sounded dark, but you know what I meant.

Jeb didn't know how he ended up inside the Diamonds HQ. He'd been trying to avoid the building for the past couple of months now due to everything that had been happening lately. Perhaps it was his mind's way of telling his body that he should probably force himself to go back there, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. If he was honest, he was scared more than anything. Scared that something would happen. Although he pretended it didn't, the thought of death terrified him, and he would go great lengths to avoid it. 

What was even more strange was that he stood in front of Wren's office. Although Jeb liked Wren, he was one of the few men he respected as an authority figure, and as a result, he tended to just leave him alone, and not attempt to bother him like he would with anyone else. He probably had a lot more important things to do. Nevertheless, he placed his hand on the door handle before knocking, sighing as he waited for a response.

Piper’s office wasn’t large, but she didn’t need a lot. The amount of tech in here cost more than her apartment would if she bought it, and it ran quickly and smoothly. That was all she needed, really, plus the aircon/heater that stopped her computers from malfunctioning in the seasons. Headphones in, she was working pretty steadily until the door opened. Seated so she could see the door, she looked up immediately. Only once she realised it was Wren, did she quickly remove the headphones and sit up straighter. She wasn’t sure where she sat with him currently. They hadn’t spoken much in the past few months, which could be good or bad. At least she hadn’t screwed up in a little bit.

“Hey, Wren,” she said, not sure what to expect.
