Ah Springtime, the symbolic rebirth from the icy death grip of Winter. A fitting time for the release of Swamp Thing #88, the issue that DC killed over 35 years ago prompting Rick Veitch’s departure from the series and the company. The first in a four-issue run that will finally complete Veitch’s storyline also includes an essay by Swamp Thing artist/writer Stephen Bissette, delving into the controversy of the comic and the era in which it was originally conceived.

I collect only a couple of comic book series as they come out in single issues and LAZARUS is one of them.

In this first arc of the final instalment, Forever and her “little sister” Infinity are free from the control of the Carlyle Family but are being hunted down. They make contact with a resistance group, The Free, while Malcolm Carlyle restarts the Lazarus Project.

It’s a great dystopian thriller set in a future world that on many levels mirrors our current one.

Highly recommended and looking forward to the next arc!
