In case you missed, Disney released the official logo for the sequel of Pixar’s The Incredibles last saturday by their official Instagram account. Here’s everything we know about the movie so far:

The movie was first announced at the Disney shareholders meeting in March 2014, with Brad Bird returning as writer.

In April 2015, Bird revealed that he has begun writing the screenplay for the sequel. He also stated that the film will not reflect trends in the superhero genre since the first film’s release, explaining, “I don’t think that kind of idea stays interesting for very long. … For me, the interesting thing was never the superhero part of it. It was more the family dynamic, and how do superhero things play into that”.

So far, only Samuel L. Jackson is confirmed to reprise his role from the original movie (Frozone).

Frozen writer Jennifer Lee once made a tweet jokingly suggesting that Elsa and Wreck-It Ralphwould make a good couple during the 2013 D23 Expo. As a nod to that, in Disney INFINITY, if Ralph and Elsa are introduced to one another, Ralph will tell Elsa that she is “really pretty”, and Elsa will reply “And you have a warm heart.” Why isnt anybody talking about this?!

Let’s not credit just Chris Sanders for this. This happened because they cast actual Hawaiian Actors like Tia Carrere and Jason Scott Lee to play Hawaiian characters, and allowed the actors to have input into writing the characters’ lines. 

This sort of authenticity comes from accuracy and authenticity in casting choices. The fact that Chris Sanders as direct/writer facilitated that does not mean he gets credit for the actors’ experience.

This is why diversity and representation in media matters.

The first people director Rob Marshall cast for Into the Woods were in the following order:Meryl Streep as the Witch in Spring 2013, Johnny Depp as the Wolf, James Corden as the Baker, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal as the princes, Emily Blunt as the Baker’s Wife, and Christine Baranski as Cinderella’s Stepmother. The rest were cast later. There were rumors that Emma Stone was being considered for the film, it is not reported which role, and Jim Carrey was mentioned for the role of the Baker. Chris Pine later replaced Jake Gyllenhaal as Cinderella’s Prince and Billy Magnussen replaced Chris Pine as Rapunzel’s Prince.

Okay, so I’m listening to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, and I realize something.  In the beginning it says “The rose would bloom until his 21st birthday” meaning the Beast is about 21 years old during the movie.  

BUT.   In the song Be Our Guest, Lumier says “Ten years we’ve been rusting, needing so much more than dusting…” etc.    

This confused me.  Because if they were under the curse for ten years, but he would be 21 by the time the last petal fell…  that could only mean one thing.

The beast was 11 years old when that witch transformed him.

DOES ANYONE ELSE REALIZE HOW CUTE THAT IS, IMAGINE AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD BEAST BEING RUDE AND SASSY TO AN OLD LADY, AND BEING LIKE “NO YOU CAN’T COME IN, MY MUM SAID I CAN’T TALK TO STRANGERS, AND PLUS, YOU’RE SUPER UGLY, GO AWAY!”  

AND THEN SHE TURNS HIM INTO A LITTLE MONSTER.

LIKE THAT ADORABLE LITTLE CREATURE RIGHT THERE. 

Guys do you not see how I’m freaking over this right now, do you not see how I need more of this in my life????  I CAN’T STOP SMILING!!!!

(I honestly don’t think Disney thought this out very well, BUT THE IDEA OF A CUTE BABY BEAST TOTALLY MAKES IT WORTH IT!!!)

This changes a lot of things with the intro as stated above. It actually means the Enchantress was in the wrong.

See, imagine you’re an 11 year old again. You’re chilling in your castle all by yourself with your servants off doing something else somewhere, when a knock at the door sounds. A creepy old lady wants to come into your house. Not just some old lady with a friendly face, but some creepy, dirty, scary looking old lady. And she says she’ll give you a rose in return. Well what would you do? I would probably say no thanks and shut the door. I mean, as an 11 year old I was taught not to let strangers into my house. So why would you let strangers into your CASTLE? Especially creepy old ladies with roses? In winter.

Sure, this probably sounds mean like, ‘Oh how rude that you would refuse shelter to her.’ Well I mean, she’s a stranger, coming into my home, and I’m 11. My first thought is definitely stranger danger, not oh goodness she needs blankets and shelter and warmth. No, even if now, as a 15 year old, some creepy old lady or any lady/man/anyone I or my family didn’t know wanted to stay in my house, I would still turn them down. Because they’re strangers.

Pixar‘s  Sanjay’s Super Team 

“For the first time, Pixar has two original films that will be released this year. The Good Dinosaur will follow Inside Out in November, and with it, a brand new short.

‘Sanjay’s Super Team’ will be the first Pixar film starring a character of color. Director Sanjay Patel drew on his childhood experiences to create the 7 minute short, which chronicles a Hindu prayer ritual with his father.

It’s also the first time religion is the subject in a Pixar film. The short concerns Sanjay daydreaming about the Hindu gods as ancient superheroes, not unlike Marvel’s The Avengers…

Patel is the third Asian American director at Pixar, joining Ronnie del Carmen, co director of Inside Out, and Pete Sohn, director of The Good Dinosaur. He was candid in describing the difficulties of embracing his Indian heritage as a boy and even into adulthood…”
