“Yeah, uh, that’s pretty bad....maybe you could....no....”
She took a quick glance behind her to make sure the boy was actually gone and not listening to them. “He was persistent. I thought he was going to force me to drink the firewhiskey. I don’t even like to drink.” Lily shook her head at his question. She wanted nothing more than to go back to her room. “I don’t like it. I want to go back to my dorm,”
Albus gave her an encouraging smile and rubbed her arm a bit. “Don’t worry, your older brother was here to save the day, I wouldn’t’ve let you drink it. I’m with you on that front.” He frowned at her response and looked at her with a slightly furrowed brow. “I could bring you back, if you really want?”
Alice shrugged as she leaned back against the wall, folding her arms over her chest. “I dunno. From my count, around seven or so but it could be more.”
“It’s a bit ridiculous, really,” he scoffed, smiling nonetheless. “Have you actually tried it? It tastes like every type of alcohol known to man decided to have their own party in the punch, it’s gross.”
“Geez, Potter. It’s all good.” She nodded. “See, all done.” She snorted lightly. “Hey, hey, want to know something funny?”
Albus quirked an eyebrow at the girl and smirked slightly when she was finished. “Don’t blame me when you get piss drunk,” he said simply. “What?” He asked, slightly worried about what she had to say.
‘I have no idea, to be honest. But I saw about 3 people doing it already.’
‘I’m normally supposed to tell McGonagall about it, but I reckon I’ll just wait until something goes out of control.’
“Your sister’s caught about four of ‘em. They’re really not trying very hard to stay quiet about it, are they?”
“McGonagall’s surely seen some already, reckon she’s probably doing the same thing.”
“I wouldn’t dare to go near it. There’s got to be so many different types of alcohol, from Firewhiskey to muggle stuff, I can’t imagine it would taste very good.” She patted him on the shoulder. “Aw, thanks Al. That’s what makes it interesting.”
“Don’t. Don’t go near it. It tastes like every type of alcohol just came and threw up in it. It does not taste good, and I’m sure you could get drunk with just one sip.” He slapped on a sarcastically emotional smile and nodded. “You’re welcome, Rosie. And I’m sure it’ll come soon, because, I mean, I break the rules all the time, right?”
Scorpius couldn’t hide his amused expression as Albus binned his cup and not opt for any of his. He hadn’t expected him to. He took a small sip before he put his flask away, letting out a small laugh, “Yeah, but that’s because you’re a lightweight. I think I’d be immune to the punch by now. It’s not even worth a shot.”
Albus feigned an offended shock at Scorpius’ words. “Excuse you, I am not a lightweight.” Dropping his act, he chuckled lightly and shrugged. “I’ll be a lightweight if it means I don’t have to suffer. You can’t be immune surely, that stuff is as strong as your own by now.”
“Dead? Nah. Slightly maimed? Possibly.” Lucy smiled widely. “Good on you, Al. Glad to see you’ve realized your mistake.” She chuckled, then shrugged. “Hangover sucks. I don’t need detention on top of it tomorrow morning. A girl’s got more important things to do with her time.”
“Quite highly possibly,” He grinned back. Chuckling slightly, he shook his head again and left that conversation at that. In response to her other reply, he nodded. “Very true. At least you’re being wise. Make sure you stick to that, Luce, eh?”
“You’re no fun.” Lucy pouted exaggeratedly at her cousin. ”Get caught? I’m Lucy fucking Weasley, I don’t get caught.” She laughed, but still stashed away the flask in case a professor was looking their way.
“Not fun, but I sure am practical. You’d be dead without me,” he chuckled, shaking his head slightly. “Oh yeah, gosh, sorry for doubting you.” A smile spread across his lips as he watched her stash it away. “That’a girl.”
“Well my guess is that the punch is like sixty percent alcohol now. I would’ve spiked it myself, but that’s a waste of perfectly good alcohol” Scorpius replied, “Strong stuff is always better.” He whipped out his flask, holding it out to Albus, “Want some?”
Albus took a sip from his cup, and immediately his face scrunched up. Nodding, he threw the cup of punch/alcohol in the nearest bin. “Definitely tastes like at least sixty percent.” He smirked as he watched Scorpius whip out his own stuff, and adamantly shook his head in response to his question. “I’ll pass, thanks. In my opinion the strong stuff is shit, but eh, everyone’s entitled to their own opinions.”
Lily was very thankful when Albus pulled her away from the relentless boy. “Thank you,” she quickly said once hey were out of earshot. Taking a quick glance behind her, she shrugged. “I don’t know. Some Hufflepuff I think, but I haven’t got the slightest clue who he is.”
"No need to stay quiet anymore, he’s gone now; stumbled off looking pretty drunk,” he smiled at her. “He seemed pretty persistent, I’d just thought maybe he might’ve known you already.” Shrugging, he continued, “anyway, how’re you liking the party so far? Apart from him, of course.”
“Hm… At least five, maybe six times? I’ve caught about four kids trying. It’s like no one even tries to be secretive about breaking the rules anymore, which takes the fun out of everything.”
“That sounds like about an accurate guess, considering it tastes like pure alcohol already and this party’s barely started.” He laughed. “Well, if I ever think of breaking the rules, I’ll make sure to be extra secretive, just for you.”
“So how many times do you reckon the punch has been spiked already?”
“For the last time, I don’t want a drink. Will you please stop asking me now?”
Albus flashed a sarcastic smile at the boy who continued to press on his sister, and, grabbing her hand, managed to pull her away before he actually shoved the drink down her throat. “Who was that, Lils?” He asked once they were a safe distance away.
“Oh, McGonagall, it’s like you hardly even know us at all.” Lucy chuckled as she poured the contents of her flask into her cup, then looked up at the person in front of her. “Want some? It’s the finest firewhiskey a girl can get her hands on. Well, at Hogwarts anyway.”
Albus smirked an raised an eyebrow at his cousin, who had all but emptied her flash into the one cup of punch. “I think I’ll pass,” he laughed lightly. “And I think maybe you should take it slow, too obviously drunk and you’ll be caught.”
“Hold on, let me finish this before you say anything.”
“Merlin’s beard, Grace, slow down!” Albus exclaimed, tempted to just take the glass from her hand.
‘Oi! Watch out! You almost tripped over the bowl of punch!’
Albus grimaced and turned to look at Hugo with an almost pout. “At least I didn’t spill it over?”
