I love how every so-called anti-colonial leftist fails either the Ukraine test or the Palestine one. The number of people who have a consistent moral compass nowadays is actually terrifyingly low, because most are just doing whatever is popular online at the moment. And sure, sometimes the trending idea is actually correct—that can help spread awareness and reach the right people: those who make decisions or those who have the means to help. But that’s not always the case.

The only way to avoid this is to actually have some sort of moral pattern that can be applied across multiple situations: “Oh, a colonial country is attacking a smaller neighbour? Yeah, that’s wrong—regardless of the names of those countries.” Or “Please avoid this author/artist because they support the aggressor (regardless of whether they support Russia or Israel).”
