For years, bartenders who made the Aviation had no idea why it carried that name. The reason for this is because the original version of the recipe had not been written down correctly - they’d forgotten the key ingredient, Creme de Violette, which gives it its sky-blue (sometimes violet) hue.

I made a vintage poster in reference to the place and date it was created (1875, Angers, France). The illustration also represent the ingredients and atmosphere representative of the drink, a unique spirit distilled three time which confers it a crystal transparence, made with a secret blend of bitter and sweet oranges.
