Lola tilted her head to the side as she looked down at her before letting out a laugh. “Oh, sweetie, I don’t want to fight you. You’re not worth the broken nail.“ She pouted. “It was good to meet you though, this was fun.” The blonde scrunched her nose up before turning her back on her. 

“oh, must have struck a nerve.” alaska tsked. “good, don’t want you to pay that extra few dollars for a fix.” she smirked, looking down at the other girls nails. “the most fun. see you around.”

“true statement,” he agreed with her, a laugh coupled with the statement. he shouldn’t complain about his mother’s habits of being a little overprotective and worrying about her only child being so far away from home. but being around alaska of course was helpful in easing her worries. taking back the phone, he sent a follow up that they’d bring stuff to cook dinner as well and make a night of it. “now, what were we talking about? your shit list, i think. who was added this time?”

“oh! right!” alaska exclaimed. “okay, so the past few days have been surreal okay.” she said, turning towards her best friend. “so remember when i talked to my dad?” she questioned, knowing he would remember. “well, i was obviously upset so i went up to the roof to cool off, metaphorically because i mean, jesus christ it’s fucking freezing outside.” she went on, her hands waving around as she spoke. “and i get up there and this ridiculously attractive British guy up there.” she smiled, a real smile that alaska didn’t show very much.

“your mother is a saint compared to mine, jay.” she rolled her eyes, lounging on her couch. “my mother is probably enjoying her fourth long island, and second xanax of the day.” she shrugged. “at least your’s cares.” she grabbed the phone out of his hand, shooting his mother a text, saying they would be over that upcoming weekend.

“yeah? well i’m not scared of you either, sweetie. just another low class girl that thinks she’s all that because she can afford a pair of last season mui mui’s.” she spit back, her eyes angry. was she scared? that could be argued. alaska wasn’t one for physical violence, but she refused to back down. she had backed up a bit, but would never let someone see her falter. “you wanna hit me? beat me up? go ahead. all it does is prove my point,” she smiled.

When Lola heard yelling she glazed back at the very small angry girl looking between the girl and her phone and back again. Not giving the brunette her full attention just yet. “It was an accident.” She couldn’t help but hold back a bit of laughter at the others reaction. “No need to have an aneurysm about it.“ 

“did your mother not teach you manners?” alaska put a hand on her hip, not backing down. “i’m not having an aneurysm. you’re rude as hell.” she shook her head. “now if you want to actually apologize, do it now.” she stated, her tone icy. “if not i will make sure that your life in this complex is personally hell.”

he watched her features soften and frowned, suddenly curious about the internal monologue that seemed to be racing through the girl’s mind. his head moved in a slow nod at her correction. “ah,” he stated, looking down at her boots to see that she was right. “my mistake.” stretching out his legs, nathaniel crossed his feet at the ankles and turned his gaze out towards the open air before them. a smirk tugged at his lips at her retort to his statement. “oof,” he said with a smirk, eyeing her in his peripheral. “pouting’s even worse. hope you use a good night cream, unless you want your pretty face to get marred with wrinkles in twenty years.” his vast knowledge of skin care and luxury pampering wasn’t something he proudly advertised, but he found it entertaining to whip out at random times and surprise his acquaintances — one of the perks of his job. his shoulders shrugged at her statement but he properly turned his eyes to the girl, trying to gauge her thought process as she seemed to struggle to even mutter the words. he had to bite back a smile at the quiet voice that slipped out of her, and if he weren’t afraid of the outburst it could bring out of her once more, he might’ve barked out a laugh. but he swallowed it down and just nodded. he could probably tease her even more, pretend he didn’t hear her and ask her to raise her voice, but between the way she’d burst out onto the rooftop and her biting remarks earlier, nate figured she wasn’t having the best night — and he wasn’t that much of an asshole. “there ya go,” he said, giving in to a bit of teasing. “was that so hard?” he offered her a smirk before looking out in front of them. “how’s your night been?” nathaniel questioned, adopting a casual voice to try and roll past their rocky start.

alaska sat in the chair stiffly, not willing to ease up in that manner. “a man that’s kind of knows his shoes.” she nodded. something twinkled in her eye as she let them roam over the boy next to her. “kind of. almost.” she a small smile on her face as her took her eyes off him, and down to her hands in her lap. he had to come from money. that well dressed? any other boy in the aparment complex probably couldn’t tell the difference between a louboutin and a croc. but here he was. handsome? check. well dressed? check. someone she probably would have ran in the same clique she had back in the day. when he let out a sound, it pulled her out of her own thoughts of pity, and she looked at him, her eyes widened. “do i look like a girl who doesn’t moisturize?” she questioned, her brows raised, daring him to mutter the wrong answer. after she mumbled the apology, she watched him carefully, hoping he didn’t make a jab at her obvious lack of experience in apologizing. her parents had always handled her apologies. with a new wing at the school, or if it was really bad, with a wad of cash. but she was trying to get over that. trying not to be the girl her parents seemed to have raised her as. she was doing it. out on her own, succeeding in a way they never thought she could. “you have no idea.” she muttered, quiet enough that she was sure he hadn’t even heard her. “my night? possibly the worst night in the history of bad and shitty night.” she turned her eyes up to look at the sky. “my parents think i’m a failure.” she sighed, the words coming out in a rush. something she wouldn’t tell her few friends she had made. and she had just admitted it to a stranger. “when they kicked me out i thought it was because they wanted me to be able to do this whole “life” thing on my own.” she brought her fingers up in hand quotes.

ophelia was having a pretty bad day, she was really just struggling with all things life. work was insane and all she wanted was to get home. the slightly warmer weather had messed with the snow, thus causing that nasty slushly sludge to form on the streets and of course just at it would go she had fallen in. she just wanted to get back to her apartment and change. her eyes landing on someone in the lobby of the building, a pathetic sigh escaping her lips. “don’t comment on the mud…. i fell in a puddle on the way over here.”

alaska’s heels clicked on the tile in the lobby. her shift at the boutique was in forty five minutes, but she always liked to be early. she looked up from the cell phone in her hands when she felt a cold rush come through the main doors to the complex. her head shot up instantly, a smirk on her lips. “oh wow. that is unfortunate.” she laughed a little bit. “that stain is never coming out.” shaking her head.

She kind of had him there, he did want to cry. “Well, you reacted in such a way that would have made the neighbours think I was murdering you in the stairwell… If anything the coffee was lukewarm, but I still didn’t want our neighbours to think you were dying…”

“look kid. i doubt anyone in this entire complex would come out if they heard my voice.” she almost laughed, a small smile on her face. alaska didn’t make friends easily, but she was pretty damn good at making enemies. “they’re expensive boots. but still. if you don’t start standing up to people like me, we’re gonna walk all over ya.”

“i’d recommend a stop to that, it looks ugly on you.” raven was far to petty and mean for their own good sometimes, causing more trouble than situations called for. as if on cue, karma decided to give them both a healthy dose of reality and caused the elevator to come to an early stop- between floors. flickering lights cause brown eyes to dart back and forth, looking around as if this might be a joke. “chill out, for fucks sake. freaking out won’t make it suddenly move again.” tough words for someone who might go into a panic attack at any second. small spaces were not on raven’s list of things they enjoyed. 

“nothing looks ugly on me, raven.” a feline smirk graced her lips. alaska was not claustrophobic. sure, small places did kind of freak her out and when she’s people crawling in them in movies she turns the channel. but she’s not afraid of them. “i think i’m freaking out the completely right amount!” she breathed out, looking at the exensive watch on her wrists. “oh! and great! i’m late for my leg wax.”

Lola was walking into her apartment complex bag full of costumes in one hand and her phone in the other. She was scrolling though her messages responding to a few of her viewers especially that ones that had sent coins. When she felt her shoulder collide with another another person it didn’t stop her from looking up from her phone. “My bad.“ The blonde muttered as she kept walking. 

alaska frowned before pulling her cream colored scarf around her neck, not looking forward to stepping out into the cold. her shift had been cancelled and she intended on treating herself to something new from the local mall. as the person walking in bumped into her, the small girl dropped her bag. “do you mind?!” she spoke, her brows furrowing at the other girl. “whats wrong with you? watch where you’re going!” she spoke louder this time, almost yelling.

Getting up off the floor, he looked at her with a confused look in his eye, “What is that supposed to mean? I don’t let people… walk all over me?” Elijah didn’t think about it that way; would it be considered being walked over if he spilled the coffee? Maybe that was a philosophical question for later. “What makes you think I’m easily walked all over?”

“it means, that you accidentally spilled coffee on me, i reacted in typical me fashion and you were begging me not to yell.” alaska spoke as if it was common knowledge. “i mean, apologizing is great, but you let me talk down to you and for a second there i thought you we’re gonna cry.” she cringed.
