But to Breha, Padmรฉ was the birth mother of her only child, a woman who loved Leia just as much as Breha herself did, and a good friend to boot.
โIโm sorry to interrupt,โ Breha said whenย Padmรฉ finally looked up from the baby, and saw the queen watching the pair from the doorway to the royal nursery.
โI just got done with a stressful meeting and needed to hold her, but if youโre about to put her down, then it can wait.โ Breha was still so new to this co-parenting arrangement, Bail had come up with the plan, fakingย Padmรฉโs death and bringing her to Alderaan with the baby girl.
In public, Bail and Breha would be Leiaโs only parents, but privately they would raise the girl as a team of three. It wasnโt easy, she knew that she was just as much a mother to Leia asย Padmรฉ was. But she still felt the need to ask the birth motherโs permission for everything.

Secretly, sometimes Padmรฉ had dreamt that she never made it back from that burning planet, only to wake up disappointed at her reality; it was a secret that sheโd keep to herself, unable to have anyone carry such a burden. For one thing though, she was glad that she was able to share her child with such considerate and loving parents such as Bail and Breha. Their friendship was vital, and truly, she couldnโt imagine this working out with anyone else.
Bouncing the half asleep baby girl in her arms, Padmรฉ lifted her head when she heard Brehaโs voice. It was clear how exhausted, how stressed she was, so when she heard the request, Padmรฉ gave a gentle smile before approaching the woman. ย ย โ ย ย ย ย ๐พ๐ต ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐๐๐ด ย ย ย โย ย and with that, Padmรฉ very carefully handed over the baby into the other womanโs arms,
