For my benefit... Sure. It's about someone who works on ships in the nineteenth century sailing up the Congo. He's telling the story in the story to his shipmates on a boat years after it happened... It's good.

Perception is perception, whether yours or mine. Your decisions are your own. If this is the first chance you’ve been given to decide what you would like to do, I suggest you grasp it fully and honestly think. Who knows, what you want may not be this in the end.
What I want is for what happened to me to never happen again... People need to get stronger, because while mankind is around, the world is only going to get more harsh... I've been given enough time to think about it, and as I have said before... I'm better off here.

It's not something that can ever be let go of. Believe me, I know. The time out there is part of why I've chosen the side I have... I've nothing to truly be ashamed of. You may think otherwise of me, and that is alright with me. I'm mostly apathetic towards my actions... When all that's important is staying alive, you don't get to reflect. This is the first time I've ever been given the chance to have an opinion on anything, let alone act on it.

Yeah, maybe... I really doubt it though.
All I know is, keeping me inside all the time is far more dangerous than living out there... When I first got here, all I wanted was to go back. And it's still like that now when I think about it there... I never had a comfortable day, I didn't sleep much, only ate if I got lucky, and I don't know how many times I almost died but... I don't think I could ever stop being an animal... I don't want to just see it again. If I'm going back, no one will ever see me again.

Have you seen this place? It isn't just the field where this shit is happening... You should've seen the town I grew up in before the woods... It was a mess... Just that place alone would take years... And it's tiny.

There was a lot of time to adapt. I wouldn’t know to much about how life like that can be, but I know what it’s like to be thrust into something you may or may not be ready for where the light at the end of the metaphorical tunnel is a million miles away. Looks like you kept walking. Congratulations.
The point is just that... Surviving. You can't clean up this big of a mess. And there'd be no point in me helping anyway... So...
Well, actually... Mostly I was running... But I mean, I knew those woods. I was safer there in a way... I mean as long as I could keep my distance away from any fighting... But hey, just take my advice. Don't ever willingly spend more than a camping trip in the woods. It's not a lot of fun for longer than that...

If it was pity you would know. I’d assume it takes some sort of mental strength to continue living in a tree, so yes, there’s a bit or respect there. Don’t let it get to your head.
I have my own ways of surviving... It's sort of what I'm best at doing. Taking that into consideration, I'm not wicked worried about that.
Takes a hellofalot more than just mental strength. But I'm not going to brag too much... Not much to be too proud of when it comes to that... Yeah, it was a long time, but that just means there was a lot of time for shit to happen...
