Already having told Landon that she wouldn’t be available until later that evening because she was going out to dinner with a friend, Meg had gotten ready at an easy pace and with a short text to Aleks telling she was on her way, stepped out into the cool London air. She was looking forward to catching up with Aleks, despite the news that Christian and him had broken off their engagement. She hadn’t exactly told Christian that she was meeting up with Aleks, still giving her support to him as family, but seeing as her brother had failed to mention that the wedding wasn’t to be — and damn it, she would’ve made such a great bridesmaid — she felt justified in keeping this from him.
Finally arriving at the place Aleks was living in now, she knocked softly on the door. “Hey, blue eyes, it’s me.”
Things had been rather crazy in the last week. Aleksandr had holed himself down in his flat, not wanting to go anywhere for a day or two, but after everything had passed, there was clean up to be done. Aleksandr had decided to help the city, and the police department, with cleaning up some of the damage that was done during the night, and when he was done, he got in the shower and cleaned up. He knew Meg would be over soon and he didn't want her to have to wait around for him. He got ready as quickly as he could and smiled when he heard the knock on the door. He heard her call from outside, and when he opened the door he just brought her in for a hug. "Hey, Meggie." he said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. I'll be ready to go in about five seconds. I just need to get my shoes on." He held the door open for her so she could enter, and shut it once she was in. "How are you holding up?" he asked.
