What I love about RJ, is that he is only alive for Rick and Michonne’s sheer enjoyment and love for eachother. He is their gift to each other. The most selfish thing they’ve ever done and I love it! The only gift they’ve ever received that’s just for them, created by them. No life lessons attached to him, no strings attached, no circumstances to undertake, no handling of cards they were dealt, no trauma. Just a gift. And richonne deserves him.
Everything Rick and Michonne has done is either because of obligation, leadership, or survival. In many scenes, Rick has been prone to say, “ this is how we live now.” “ I have to accept this” “wake up and tell yourself you’re already dead.” Rick takes on many responsibilities that isn’t his to take. Richonne were in love with eachother for ages, but they didn’t get together until they could be selfish and do something for themselves. Rick Grimes Junior is their ultimate gift and “ something for themselves.” Their contribution to the world that the community doesn’t get to raise, but only them. And they deserve a physical manifestation of their love, after losing Carl, Andre, and everything in between. I hope he grows up and takes over the world with Hershel. I think their fathers and grandpa would love to know that their namesakes are in fact living up to their Grimes and Rhee names.
