“Now works,” CJ nodded. Though truthfully, she was only free because the choreography was refusing to rehearse until she was definitively cleared. “How are concussions tested these days?” she asked. “I’ve only ever had one in high school, which was like a decade ago.”

“There will be a few tests where I’ll evaluate your cognitive responses,” he explained, “But there are some other tests we can do as well. I don’t think it’s much different than what you've done before. There are some things I’ll tell you to avoid doing as well, but first let’s make sure you have one.”

“We’ve got a patient with suspected hemophilia, I thought you’d like to weigh in.”

“That’s certainly a good reason. ... Alright, so what have you collected so far?”

“How many times, mate, it wasn’t me that phoned you!”  Malachy protested, looking around him in confusion. “I don’t even have a phone…”

“Once is fine enough,” he replied, expression lacking amusement. “I apologize for the confusion.”

Luke nodded, and then led the other man through to the other room, holding open the door once they got there. “He came in earlier, he’s only been drinking water, he’s definitely not drunk,” he explained. “I’m not really sure what happened. I came back out here to get some more stock for the bar… and here he was.”

For a moment, Alexander stood in the doorway, allowing a slender frown to crawl across pale lips before stepping over the threshold and into the room. Brow furrowed, the doctor looked back to the man who stood by the door.

“Do you have any time when he got here? How long its been since you saw him last?”

“I suppose you do, yes. That’s one advantage for you.”

“Well, that depends. What happened? Is everything alright now?”

“Well I was wondering if you wanted to get coffee or something.”

“Sounds good to me. You know I can’t turn down a good cup of coffee.”

“I am having the worse hang over of my life and I think I’m dying.”

“I’m pretty positive  you’re not dying. Have you taken anything yet? Drank some water?”

“Oh, didn’t I explain?“ Kiki asked, “That sounds very much like me. Anyways. I um… have an artist that passed out. I think it’s drugs. So, you’re like a blood specialist man and all. Please figure out what the fuck is going, make sure he doesn’t die and also please make sure word won’t go out to the press,“ she said and didn’t want for an answer, “Thanks hun, you’re amazing.“

That most certainly hadn’t been the sort of story he was expecting to hear, although it also wasn’t one he hadn’t encountered before.

“Alright, ah... Well, testing has to be done back at the office--looking for traces of narcotics in the bloodstream--but I’ll see if I return him to consciousness before moving him about.” A pause. “Would you mind showing me where he is?”

“Well I am not dying, so that’s a positive right? I suppose I should have just asked to hang out.”

“I guess either way I’d have come over, so a job well done. My next query is, however, what you’d like to do now that I’ve raced over here.”

“An’ wha’ thing is it tha’ y’work’s got y’doin’ tha’ y’don’t like?  Havin’ t’meet wit’ someone don’t seem t’bad.”  She arched a brow and nearly let out a small laugh, “I guess y’ain’t met many sarcastic women.”

“It’s a woman who wants to join a department at the medical facility where I work. Apparently she’s grumpy a lot of the time. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it.” As the laugh broke from her lips, the doctor rose a brow of his own. “I guess not. At least now I can say I’ve met one.”

“Sorry, what I sholud have said was, there’s this dude passed out in the back room and I wasn’t sure what to do…”

“That’s a little more informative. Alright, show me to him. Tell me what happened.”

“I never said I was good with them. Plus, no one really wanted to go to the beach today and have the whole campfire thing.”

“It’s still a bit cold for that, wouldn’t you say?”

“Yeah, I was on steps. I guess I hit one of them on the landing,” CJ answered as she rubbed the back of her neck. “I figured you’d want to. Plus everyone else wants me to get checked out.” She wasn’t exactly happy about the situation, especially since it was cutting into her work schedule.

“Well it’s certainly not something to ignore,” the doctor answered, lungs filling slowly before releasing the heated air. “Are you available right now? I don’t think it’s something you should ignore for any amount of time, really.”

“Well, I was at a dance rehearsal for the tour and I fell– actually I was tripped, but that’s not the point,” she started to explain. “Supposedly, I blacked out and everyone started freaking out, saying I need to get checked out for a concussion, but I feel fine.”

“You tripped and blacked out? I’m guess you hit something, or did you just fall on the floor?” Raising a brow, the doctor’s blue hues flickered down to the pad of paper he held, scribbling down a note or two before returning his attention to her. “Whether or not you feel okay, I still want to give it a look.”

“N’ah mate, I’m Aoife an’ I gotta say tha’ I’m quite a bit flattered tha’ y’were seekin’ an’ aggravated woman an’ decided on me.”  She smirked a little, “No ‘arm done.  I am aggravated, jus’ didn’t think it was t’obvious.”

“I can’t say I’m all too pleased to be meeting with her, but sometimes work makes you do these sort of... things.” The doctor pursed his lips, brow furrowing at her initial comment. “Flattered? I can’t say I’ve met a lot of women who would be flattered by that.”
