There was a time when she used to agree when people said that Tifa Lockhart was no coward. As a ten year old, she once ventured deep into the forest of Aokigahara on one of their school field trips. Her friends were initially enthusiastic about going on an adventure with her, even boasted to one of the older kids that they were going to protect her.
So, they had left without telling the adults.
Maybe it was their confidence that gave her the boost to go for it even when the sun had started setting. Or maybe it was her desire to see for herself if there were other worldly beings there. They trekked for about forty minutes, singing an old folk song, yelling out to the skies that the monsters should stay away.
It was fun at first. There was nothing like the sound of boisterous laughter and the pure wonder among innocent children as they saw cute woodland creatures like bunnies and ugly toads.
However, as soon as it began to get dark, Tifa didn’t even notice that her friends had suddenly disappeared from her side.
And that was when she started to feel a little bit scared.
More scared than she cared to admit at that age.
She had spent hours on that mountain, hungry and fearful of carnivores possibly passing by. That is until, Cloud Strife, her next door neighbor, came to her rescue, his wild spiky hair messed up by leaves and twigs, small hand gripping a long stick to ward off predators.
