Nocturne in E Flat Major | Chopin
He sat on the bench with a pair of black shades perched on his nose. It was cloudy outside, but Anton still finished slathering sunscreen on his arms, neck, and ears. A large pink lollipop rolled from one side of his jaw to the other while he dropped the lotion bottle into the bag by his foot. The sucker made an audible pop as he pulled it from his lips. “Sure you don’t want some?” he asked about the lotion. “Doesn’t take much sun to cause skin damage.”
As Alexa made her way down the sidewalk, sipping her drink through a colorful straw, she observed the oddest thing. A vampire - yes, she could spot her own kind a million miles away, lathering himself up with sunscreen. Curious, she wandered over and took the empty spot next to him. “I can’t say that I’ve ever really thought about skin damage. I don’t exactly burn. Old Wive’s Tale.” She mused humorously before drawing another long sip from her cup. “You do realize offering sunscreen to random strangers isn’t exactly the norm.” She cast a glance in his direction, “Are you using the: ‘hot guy with sun screen’ gig to entice your lunch to come to you?” She held out her cup to him, “O+”
Hunter looked over at the woman across the counter as he was cleaning a tall glass. He figured he was going to need for her, mostly because of the request. “You can stay as long as you like, I just love giving stragglers shit for coming here so late. Any preference as to what you want? Or do you want it to be the bartender’s choice?” He questioned with a brow up and his hand waving slowly over some of the strongest alcohol behind him. While he liked choosing people’s drinks, he prefered a happy customer over an angry one at this time.
Alexa sighed gratefully as she slid onto one of the bar stools. Normally she wasn’t much of a drinker mainly because alcohol had very little effect on her - if any, but there was something calming about it; like smoking the occasional cigarette. She pursed her lips and scanned the various bottles lined up along the shelves behind him. “Hmmm, how about a Whisky Neat? Straight up. No ice.” With the palms of her hands resting on the bar, she propped herself up and leaned towards him a little, “Actually, make it a double.”
It was yet another night at Trinity, and Hunter felt like he was the only one working his ass off. Orders were slinging left and right until the clock striked 2 AM. He wiped the sweat from his forehead. “I really hope you know we’re closing soon,” he answered with a little snark.
Alexa felt drained. She’d just finished a double shift in the ER and was in desperate need of something. Normally she’d have gone home, had dinner and crawled into bed. Of course, sleep would have evaded her for the majority of the night, but at least she’d have several late night talk show hosts to entertain her. Tonight was different. She wasn’t an ER doctor. In fact, while she’d excelled in multiple specialties, she loathed that specific rotation in medical school. Everything from the endless paperwork to fixing ‘boo boos’ irritated her. Again, that wouldn’t have been a problem except she couldn’t express her frustrations. Instead, she had to smile politely, ask each patient what ailed them and quickly move on. It was incredibly unsatisfying and boring. That was until a family of four was rushed in and nothing she did had any impact. They died within minutes of arrival and calling the deaths of the children left her feeling gutted. Again, a feeling she couldn’t express nor wanted. She didn’t want to feel compassion. It only made her life more difficult. All of which led her to Trinity. She knew it was late, but honestly - she didn’t care. She needed to be around another living being, even if just for a few moments. Espcially an attractive one. God, she felt like a weak and pathetic fool. As soon as she wandered in, she heard the sarcasm laced in the bartender’s words. She really wasn’t in the mood. “Really? Do you treat all of your patrons with such bite? I won’t stay long. I just - I could use a drink. Preferably a strong one.”
With a final sigh as the customer walks away Diana wipes an oil stained hand over her face, thankful the interaction was over but knew she had to brace herself for the next one. “A woman after my own heart” Diana muses relieved, apart from seeming annoyed a having the wait this already seemed to be going miles better “why don’t you come through and pick one out for yourself. You seem to know what you’re doing.”
“What can I say? I’m a single woman driving a luxury car. Learning about maintenance was sort of a given.” She commented nonchalantly. “I honestly can’t imagine how difficult it must be for you in this line of work. Men usually falsely assume women aren’t capable of handling anything car related. Oh and I’m Alexa by the way.” She added while scanning the various filter codes. “Got it.” She really had absolutely no idea what prompted her to be so chatty and polite. Probably because she was starving and it was almost innate to lull prey into a false sense of security. Something that she refused to give into. God, she really needed to get home asap .

“Well, the good news is I found what’s broken” Diana announces as she approaches the customer at the front of the shop while making a futile attempt to wipe the oil from her hands with an already dirty rag “the bad news is that it’s really broken.”
Alexa watched the lengthy exchange between the two women, wondering what on earth was taking so long. All she needed was a damned air filter. Annoyed and tired, Alexa glared at the woman with her steel blue eyes as she walked out of the shop. God, she hated witches. She could sense them miles away, Irritating little things. When she finally approached the counter, she sighed, “I just need an air filter for a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE”.
