"What else would a person made of snow be for? They would hardly be good for labor, and depending on the level of sentience, which if they are so common I doubt is on par with a normal being. I had simply assumed they were made to bulk out a military force." Alaric shrugged, his own pawns weren't always human, some were creatures made of stone, some beats. All of them fortified to be hardy and stalwart in the cause of his kingdom.
Alaric sipped his own drink, wrinkling his nose as the rich taste filled his mouth, it was much heavier than tea and the rink had the taste of...chocolate. How whimsical. "Like a memory just out of reach? A word on the tip of your tongue. Perhaps a dream you had once and can recall it was pleasant and not much more. Such things are common in Wonderland. So I understand thee sentiment."
The king wiped his hand from the condensation on the window and held it out to the other to shake. "I am Alaric. Alaric Blanc of Wonderland. And I am curious what you would do with men made of snow if they were at your disposal?"
They shrugged. "Snow things. I'd have to talk to them to find out what they do." Hewi kept the mug cradled in their hands near their bearded chin. A slightly melancholic expression fell on their features as they listened and thought. What made a person a person? They knew tin men, tree men, porcelain men, monkey men- All had their own lives and homes and things they cared about. What would make a snow man different?
"Something like that." Hewi nodded. It was some nostalgia that seemed misplaced, unfamiliar. Their hand reached out, warm from the hot chocolate, and took the other's in a shake. "I'm Hewi Fyllan. It's nice to meet you." The idea of meeting someone made of snow sparked a bit of excitement. The phrasing of the question seemed odd but they turned toward Alaric while their hands were still linked. "Don't you think it'd be fun to meet someone made of snow? Do they speak? What do they eat? Do they have snow homes?"

Jules wanders the halls of the great workshop, taking in the impressive sights. Felinus had convinced them that accepting the invitation would be more fun than hanging around Wonderland, and they have to admit, the cat was right.
And thankfully, they're not the only ones that accepted the invitation. Jules walks out into the main atrium workshop with the giant globe spinning in the center. They approach the balcony, taking a spot next to someone else.
"You know, the first time I'd heard of this Santa Claus was when the portals opened," they say to the stranger next to them.
Hewi stood on the balcony wearing a dark blue long-sleeve shirt with the top couple buttons undone. Their brown pants were tucked into old leather boots. Temperature didn't bother them too much if other people were around and many wandered the various streets and shops.
They reached up and repositioned the straw steeple hat atop their head. They didn't know there was company until they heard the voice. Hewi was entranced by the twinkle of the light vine. "He seems like a nice man. I heard they make gifts for people here and he gives them away." Their brows perked as they glanced toward their unfamiliar company. "It sounds like fun."
They smiled. "My name's Hewi."

Snow was so beautiful, and Alaric watched it fall from the window, not wanting to have the cold air outside chill his bones. Still he knew if he pressed his fingers to the pain of glass he would be able to feel it despite the roaring fireplace and the mug in his hands. The cup filled with a warm sweet brown drink, it tickled his tongue and made his stomach warm, Alaric particularly liked the marshmallows floating on top of it. He had always loved sweets.
"I hear tell they make men out of the snow. I wonder how effective soldiers made of snow would be anywhere but here. They would surely melt in Wonderland that is for sure. How delightful would it be to take some of them back. Elves as well they are so cute."
Alaric smiled at his company, head tilted to the side watching the company closest to him. "What do you like most about this place?"
They'd heard things about Wonderland, mostly from Glynn, but had never set foot in the land. It sounded quite magical, almost too wonderful to believe. However, this person sat nearby had an almost aetherial quality that reminded Hewi a little of the Good Witch.
A ceramic mug was full of hot cocoa, cradled in their hands. The warmth felt nice and the sweet smell was lovely. They'd never had cocoa before and really liked it. The tiny white pillows that floated on top were the best part.
"Why would you want them as soldiers? Most non-snow people are too delicate for war and you'd have a man of snow fight?"
Hewi lifted the mug to their lips and quietly sipped as their eyes flicked toward the person who spoke. They hummed as they contemplated the question. "Truthfully, I've not explored much. I get lost easily. Stuck." They sat forward. "I'm not sure what it is, but this place somehow has me longing for something...I don't know."
Nick nods. The Good Witch is always helpful. Perhaps he should have gotten a nicer clothes like Hewi. He is just wearing a plain gray peasant's clothes under his usual traveling coat. At least they are clean and not sleeveless as his usual clothes. "...your clothes. Suits you. I like the color." The Tin Man struggles to come up with compliments. He rarely praises someone over their appearance but... it's a party and that seems to be what everyone is doing.
He stands there unblinking as his friend gives him a hug. He knows what hugs are and it's not like he doesn't know how to hug back. It just... feels weird and off when people embrace him. His limbs have some rudimentary tactile sense but those artificial senses are numb and dull. And his human parts, what remains at least, respond to it in a way Nick can't describe. Like he wants to say something but doesn't know the words.
"Yes. You. Dorian Gale. Leon Courington. Everyone." Their little fellowship is the closest thing Nick has to a family now. Of course he is checking up on them whenever he can. "Good tactic. For when you're lost. I've mapped out. The palace." A green line shoots out from his bionic eye and projects a 3D map of the palace, showing its many rooms and corridors. "I can help. Navigate."
At one point, the compliment would've been a surprise, even had them blushing, but their time together had proven, at least to Hewi, that more of Nick's humanity still lingered than the woodsman may have realized. He showed it in his concern, verbalized it in the unprompted compliments. Even for some people with all organic parts, things like compliments and emotions and empathy were things that needed to be learned...or relearned. Hewi's fingers made sure the buttons of the jacket were fastened and nodded. "Thanks, Nick."
Hewi's lips rounded and his eyes twinkled with green light as he stared into the map displayed for him. "Oh! Wonderful, Nicholas!" He never stopped impressing, capable of things only they could imagine. Hewi took a moment to look over the layout of the castle grounds that were mapped out and then looked up at Nick with a smile. They reached out and wrapped their hand around the other's wrist. "Maybe we should find Leon and surprise Dorian together? It feels like I've not seen them for so long." Hewi was a bit exaggerated in their speech at times. They were a frequent visitor of Glynn in his castle, and tried to surprise the pair in the forest as much as possible. Hewi gasped! "Maybe we'll pass that wonderful woman serving the most delicious little tarts! You must try at least a bite."

There was always a good time for fur, but some would argue there was not a better time for one that when out in the snow, a constant chill in the air even if the wind wasn't swirling as violently as he assumed it would in an environment like this. "Should have brought your own, darling," he pulled it tight against his broad shoulders as someone approached, "or go out and skin your own beast." Eyes remained staring into the distance. "You suppose there are monsters out in the wilderness, even in a place like this?"
He'd been laughed at for his knitting and crocheting hobbies, claims they weren't masculine or whatever bullshit. Doc had made his own clothes for most of his life, and he thought it was a pretty valuable skillset. Despite the layers of sweaters and cardigans, it was still pretty cold. Thanks to his dwarven fortitude, it wasn't as bad as it could be. However, if he stayed outside much longer there'd be worry for a cold.
With arms wrapped around his torso, almost as if his arms were crossed, he looked out into the darkness. "It's Doc, not darling." He said with a little smile to himself. "Don't need a fur for a night like this. You folk are more...fragile." A bigger, satisfied grin appeared as he tried to hide the tremble of his chin under the big collar of his cardigan. "There's monsters everywhere. Like roaches. Kill one and there's a dozen more." He looked toward the taller fellow before he said, "You look the sort to not have to worry so much about monsters."

Just made it home. I'm gonna chill out from work and get some shit done. I'll get around to posting things later this evening, including Rurik's intro.
Also, does anyone else like Kyle Gallner?
Work is busy. I’ll do replies and add Doc’s things later!
