Were Britney and LiLo friends? I know Paris still claims that she and Brit were friends (even though they barely hung out), but did Lindsay and Britney ever hang out?

Not really. Aside from those few nights in 2006, and the odd run-in at parties in the years since, Lindsay and Britney were barely friends, which isn’t too surprising given Lindsay (unlike Paris) doesn’t jump to mention Brit in every other interview. In 2007 Lindsay was photographed attending Britney’s concert at the House of Blues in L.A.; a few weeks earlier she’d been alleged in the Enquirer to have enjoyed a hotel hook-up with K-Fed, though that probably wasn’t true. (Similar rumors would crop up about Paris and Kevin later that year.)

In December 2008 she wrote a supportive MySpace blog in Brit’s honor after the release of Circus; the following August the two had a rare run-in at a club, and swapped Twitter messages:

Since then the girls haven’t hung out. In Touch reported in 2014 Lindsay had been banned from attending Britney’s Vegas shows by Jamie Spears, Papa Spears allegedly fearing Lindsay was a corrupting influence on Brit. Take with many grains of salt.

Early last year I outlined the extensive, melodramatic build-up to the notorious “Britney, Lindsay, Paris” photo on my Twitter; the takeaway is that the tabloid triumvirate were never really close with one another (beyond Paris and Lindsay). In the linked Twitter thread is an e-mail exchange between Lindsay and then-pal Shanna Moakler in which Lindsay makes a quip about how the picture of the three girls was staged (contradicting comments from Paris in the years since that Lindsay was a ‘party crasher’ and unwanted), and that Britney spent the night complaining about Kevin. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
