“—Alexis!”

She both jumps an yells when her daughter enters the room. She’d been watching a horror movie and hadn’t expected her daughter. With her hand rubbing over her face and heart beating rapidly, she tries not to laugh at herself.

“Nothing. I was,” she glances back at the screen, “I was foolishly watching a horror movie. Did you need something?”

She’s trying not to smile as she skips into the room. Sitting down on the couch, Lexie’s eyebrow remains raised, the urge to smile still tugging at her lips.

Alexis can’t help her smile as she makes a sudden move towards JJ as an attempt to try and scare her.

There’s a lack of response from JJ even when her daughter calls for her. The shock of the news hasn’t yet left and the older blonde is having difficulty processing. When Lexie turns away, she immediately wants to reach out and assure her everything’s fine but again, the shock is still too much. It’s only when Lexie turns back that JJ snaps out of it, though she’s far from being over the shock.

"Lexie, honey," She caresses the sides of her face, the pads of her thumbs gently wiping away the tears that have fallen.

"How long have you known?"

There’s a bunch of other questions she wants to ask, like who’s the father and how exactly it happened, and who else knows but she knows better than to bombard her daughter with such questions. She also doesn’t want to reflect on the fact that she’s clearly not the first person Lexie’s told.

Alexis leans her cheek towards her mother's hand the moment she feels JJ's thumbs brush away the tears that stream down Lexie's face. She squeezes her eyes tightly, and more tears spill over. Her shaking hands brush her own hair out of her face and her hazel eyes look at her hands when she hears JJ's question.

❛ I’ve known for a couple months. I just didn't know how to tell you. I haven't told anyone besides you, Jack, and the father, but I think Henry knows. I'm so tired of hiding this from all the people I care about and I need you.❜

Her gaze is back on JJ, and she uses her hand to wipe her face before moving her body closer to JJ's, and tries to snuggle up to her mother the best way she can.
