What I like most about my learning is...

I like being able to go back through my assignments and see how I've grown over the semester. Going from not knowing anything about this topic, to being able to write a 24 page paper on it, thats a big improvement! I appreciate the Tumblr aspect because it's been helpful for me to practice what I am learning. I learn through experience, so being able to make post and adjust my strategy has been helpful in understanding the material. It also gives a small taste of what web writers go through.

I agree I think that it really helped me to go back and look through my assignments to see the progress I have made. I also really liked being able to post on tumblr with our original thoughts and then getting feedback from our classmates and their insights helped me grow as a writer.

What do you like the most about your responses to the interview questions?

The thing that I like the most about my responses to the interview questions is that they let me reflect on this entire course and everything that I have learned as a whole. Throughout this course, I have been mainly focused on completing the assignments and learning the specific information required for that week. These interview questions allow me to take a step back and look at the big picture of this course and all that it has taught me about writing and web writing. By answering these questions, I get the chance to reflect on the main takeaways, skills, and information that I have gained from this writing course.

Hi! I agree during the course I was also mainly focused on completing the assignments. What are you most proud of with your writing process?

I have always had a little trouble with writing, and it seemed no matter how hard I tried my writing didn't improve. Getting to post on tumblr every week has helped me to be confident and comfortable. I am able to look back at some of the assignments I have completed before this class and now after. I have found it beneficial to break the assignment up into sections, and then tackle one section at a time so it's less overwhelming. I see some of the improvement that I have already made so far, and how I can continue to make improvements for the future.

What do you like the most about your learning?

This semester, I was able to learn a lot of new things about writing that can help me in my future career. I have slowed down to really focus on what I am wrting instead of rushing through it to get it done. I am more confident when I have a writing assignment because I have found what works for me to organize my thoughts before I start writing. I enjoyed getting to collaborate with my classmates and bounce ideas and feedback of each other.

As a future teacher, I have a couple questions that I hope will help me after I finish this course:

Using what we have learned throughout this course, what are some ways I can improve/adapt my web writing for my students, parents, colleagues, etc?

When I start to interview for a teaching position, what writing aspects are they most likely looking for that I can bring to the table that will help me stand out from other applicants and showcase my interest and passion in a more meaningful way?

How can I maintain consistent pace, tone, and meaning- keeping in mind the needs of the group of students I am working with so I can help them be as successful as I can?

What are some methods that professional writers use to balance accessibility, clarity, and engagement when writing for a diverse group?

What did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks?

One of the greatest things that I learned from drafting across multiple weeks is that writing stops feeling as overwhelming when broken into stages. Instead of trying to complete the entire thing, every week pushed me forward to focus on a different layer: research question, data collection, method, analysis, revision, and design. Stretching the drafting process out over time taught me how to revisit my writing with a clearer mind and a more objective view. This will help me, after college, manage big writing tasks by treating them as evolving projects rather than one-time submissions.

I agree that when we draft across multiple weeks writing often feels less intimidating when it is broken up into sections. For me, when I try to write something all in one setting, I find that it often isn't my best work and needs some improving. Nice job!

Peer Feedback Request

One thing that I received feedback on was that I should add images of posts by the content creators to back up what I talk about in the background sections of my paper. I added in these images shown in the picture below to go with my descriptions of each of the accounts that I chose to study.

I chose to format this page in this way with the images and text alternating to make it more visually appealing while still having the description next to the image of the account that it describes. With this format, is it easy to tell which description goes with which image? Or is it confusing to the reader what is happening with the images and the text? Do you have any suggestions on how I could better format this page to make it easy to understand while also being visually appealing to the reader?

As I was looking, I found it really easy to tell which description goes with what image because they were right beside each other. I also think it is really easy to follow and understand as it is. I currently have all of my images under the text, and it might be a little harder trying to find what text go with what image so I think this formatting is really useful. Nice job!

I learned that I constantly have areas that I can build upon and develop my writing further. I have also found that I need to have a plan, and create enough time for myself after I finish writing my first draft, and then after a small break come back to revise and edit with a clear mind helps me to create meaningful assignments and to the best of my ability.

What did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college?

When drafting across multiple weeks, I have learned that the first draft I create isn't the best and needs to be worked on and improved. before the next draft. I have realized that rereading and revising is crucial when writing anything so that I can pick on my mistakes and errors. Additionally, if my assignment spans across a couple of weeks. I usually create a checklist or plan about which sections I need to complete for each week so I am less overwhelmed trying to write it all at once. Which helps me best manage my time and be able to write to the best of my ability.

how will having a good revision process help you moving forward beyond this class?

Having a good revision process, along with the other skills we have learned in this class, will help me so much as a college student and also my career.

Despite being a junior, there is still a lot I have to do before I student teach next fall. I will have to write papers and revise them for a number of classes. It is a crucial skill for any academic.

During student teaching and beyond I will be writing a lot of things for my career. Having a revising process I can fall back on will be incredibly helpful when I have to hit specific deadlines along with working on other parts of my job.

Revision is an important skill for all of us, but how might it differ for you?

A good revision process will also help me to write professional emails to employers, coworkers, and parents.

As a teacher, you are constantly writing professionally whether that be emails, messages, lesson plans, IEP's, and more.
