I like Expedition 33, Persona 3/4/5, Metaphor:ReFantazio, SMTV || currently in Expedition 33 era, lost in Canvas || I love both Verso(s) and Alicia ❤🩹 || #ryomina #ryoham #souyo
I stumbled upon this version of Lost Voice again, and it's so beautiful and emotionally complex😍
The original version of Lost Voice is literally a lament; you can hear the pain, regret, and acute grief of a recent loss most clearly. This version becomes even more complex: you can still hear the pain and sadness of the original song, but you also hear lighter and/or calmer themes of acceptance, hope, and finally, love. It's so beautiful, and seems ready to give all the answers and say that everything will be okay, but then it breaks off.
"I'm at peace with what's to come,"
"an act of love, for he does love her,"
"Your mother paints life, while your father, death. What will you paint?"
A beautifully complex musical backdrop for an equally complex situation in the story.
I only recently understood the meaning of conversation between Verso and Renoir during their first meeting we see. "I want my family back." - "It's not your family"—that's about Aline. (Maelle is in the frame, as a reference to the real Dessendres.)
And the next part, here what I think.
First, Verso intervened, stopping Renoir's blow aimed at Maelle, and then this dialogue happened:
White-haired man: You would use her?
Stranger: She chose to come. I didn't make the rules between you two.
And Renoir retreated. The rules are that he doesn't kill anyone in front of Alicia.
In some ways, it's a continuation of my theory from this post.
Apparently, when Aline's chroma began to come to an end, pRenoir made the decision to kill expeditions (and I don't think it was an easy decision for him, but his family was always his priority), and I don't think he told Alicia about it, he just left, but she found him and saw everything. Was it the 58th expedition? Or earlier?
Anyway, my theory is that Alicia decided to try to rescue the next groups, but she missed the 56th by a bit. By the time she found them, Renoir had already attacked them, some managed to escape, and as we know from the journal, they captured Alicia. Perhaps she tried to help or warn them, but they obviously didn't want to listen to her. And that only made things worse when Renoir found them. I assume he then made a deal with Alicia that she would no longer follow him when he left for the next expedition, because it was dangerous, as this incident showed, and because he didn't want her to see him kill people. And apparently, in return, Renoir promised he wouldn't kill anyone if she was nearby.
So, I believe at Stone Wave Cliffs, Alicia came for exactly this reason, to protect the 33rd expedition, in particular Maelle, but perhaps Gustave too, it was just too late again.
PS. By the way, "you would use her?" sounds like "are you conspiring again?" and Verso was like, "No, she came on her own." I bet Verso and Alicia have always been conspirators, both inside and outside of Canvas🤭 They 100% covered for each other in front of their parents, and it took Aline and Renouir a long time to figure out who actually broke the expensive vase, because Alicia and Verso both took the blame.
A post with various thoughts I've been wanting to write down for a long time. Mostly about prologue and Gustave this time, but not only👀

I wonder how much Gustave regretted not having managed to complete the Lumina converter earlier, to go on the Expedition earlier, to stop everything before death got to Sophie. I would definitely regret it if I were in his shoes. You may be an inventor and engineer, but are you really that good if you couldn't save the person you loved most? 💔

I often see people interpret Gustave's grunt when Sophie asks, "Maybe something already happened?" as confirmation, but I disagree. Sophie, by saying that he and Lune could be a sweet couple, hints to Gustave that he doesn't have to be faithful to her forever, and if he finds a new love after her death, she'll be all for it (she might just be a little jealous🤭). However, Gustave doesn't approve of this idea. He usually grunts when he wants to say something harsh, perhaps, but he doesn't allow himself to. It's like, "Whatever you say, I won't argue (but I won't agree either)."
~~~
Of course, Antoine's questions were primarily meant to tell the player about the world's history, but if you think about it from the inside, he's deliberately giving Gustave easy questions so he'll win their competition. It's really cute 🤭 Also, "Lumiere losing a brilliant light" is a very beautiful and sad metaphor, considering that Gustave has truly always been the embodiment of hope of Lumiere in this game.
~~~
I strongly suspect that Tristan had a crush on Lune, but never tried to start a relationship with her, respecting her boundaries. And Lune most likely didn't even realize it, viewing him as a colleague or friend at most.

Gustave is actually super sarcastic, especially when he's around those closest to him, like Maelle and Emma. His entire conversational style with them is friendly banter (and I'm sure Maelle picked up this trait from him). "This is the definition of a fool's quest, and my brother's not usually a fool. - I've heard you say otherwise." "Our resident cynic is now a poet. - Wouldn't expect a Cartesian engineer to understand beauty." Although, even in normal dialogue, he always has a certain degree of sarcasm. Like in "Oh, and try to enjoy yourself. Don't drink alone, you weirdo! - Yeah, right. Enjoy myself."

RIP Michel, you'd love playing cards with Monoco. It'd be an epic battle to see who can outsmart who better.

Speaking of poetry, Emma's speech was written by Gustave, and I'd say it was quite poetic👀 writer Gustave?
Kind of sad headcanon/character analysis: I imagine Maelle became such an excellent fighter because, among other things, she desperately wanted to prove her usefulness and worth after all those rejected apprenticeships and foster homes. And then, when such an opportunity appeared, Maelle worked hard to excel at Expedition Academy, so she could eventually be on par with her more experienced squad members. On the other hand, I think she finally heard genuine praise and admiration from other people, and especially from Gustave (and that makes me so happy for her🥺).
I'm thinking about how in Lost Voice the violin can be associated with Maelle/Alicia, and the cello with Gustave, and then the song is like their last dialogue and I cry even more😭😭😭💔💔💔
In fact, "Lost Voice" is probably my favorite song on the entire soundtrack 🥺 precisely because of how beautiful and sad it is, and how unmistakably it conveys the right emotions. It's like a cry, when the feeling of loss and pain overwhelms you and you can't even put it into words, hence the "lost voice."
Lorien knows how to translate emotions into music ❤🔥 You understand every song, even if it's wordless or in an artificial language.
I'm thinking about the very fact that Verso brought Gustave's journal. It made no practical sense; he could have left it, but he brought it anyway. For Maelle💔💔 Ugh, this breaks my heart in every possible way😞
Alicia believes she destroyed her own and everyone else's past with her own hands. PVerso is destroying his own and everyone else's present with his own hands. I don't know which of them is more traumatized; they both live in their own personal hells💔 I want to hug them both😭
The scene with Verso braiding Monoco's hair got me thinking about two other things: I imagine Verso spent some time doing this, and what if someone from the team caught them? I can imagine reactions of Lune, Sciel, and Maelle (and all of them are hilarious). And the second thought: what if real Verso also braided real Monoco's hair ? (If the hair was long enough, of course). Imagining Clea and Alicia's reactions was also funny🤭
