Final thoughts
I haven't posted here for a while since that disaster of a finale but I've been disappointed, not only with the ending or that byler isn't endgame, but with the way the cast (except Maya) and everyone working on the show is treating/ addressing the queerness, byler and the obvious plot holes.
And now with THAT SNL.. yeah it's not getting better.
I'll always believe byler had potential and that Mike is queercoded, even if I'm moving on from that. Also Eleven deserved so much better and her death mocked not only victims or abuse but also survivors.
It's crazy how stranger things fandom has always mostly consisted of outcasts, queers, women..
Yet they fumbled it all and for a finale that has 92838392 plot holes. Not only that, but instead of addressing the issues with the misogyny and homophobia in the show, they either ignore or mock it. Which is straight up disrespectful considering the amount of homophobia queer fans experience in the fandom. Instead, we see cast members downplaying the gay characters' feelings (reducing his love built throughout at least 3 seasons to a hallway crush) and queer love (the duffers said that rovickie ending up together is somehow unrealistic) , mocking his coming out scene (which wasn't good but it's a fact that it was bombed by homophobes), making fun of the queer fans who shipped byler and other queer ships. Not to mention how rovickie didn't have closure like at all.. and as queer fans were supposed to be satisfied with this "representation".
I'm incredibly disappointed because the show first drew me in on season 3 because of the display of the outcasts and my admiration of Will's character and his queer experience including Robin.
All characters reduced to stereotypes at the end and some of them don't even have a proper closure or development. This season feels like a sick parody and everything said by the people working on it feels like an awful joke.
