It was nice for a while,
"I just don’t want to burden anyone." She allowed the other female’s touch, welcomed it, even leaned in to it slightly, giving into her wolf’s craving for the pack that she had been denying it. Emma might have only been half wolf, but it didn’t mean she never felt what her inner beast wanted and needed.
"I’m such a mess right now. No one needs to see that. I don’t want to see it." She let out an emotionless laugh, shrugging as she tried to maintain what little composure she had left. “I can barely keep it together for Rosalie. But the moment she goes to sleep or is off with Ava for the day, I’m done. I thought I was okay for a while, maybe getting better… but I think I was wrong.”
Alice's heart ached for her packmate and as if almost on instinct, Alice pulled her toward her, wrapping her arms around her in a hug. "You. Are. Not. A. Burden." She said the words clearly and precisely, making sure that Emma would hear every word. "We're a pack - and we stick together. You don't deserve to go through this alone, Emma. We're big grown-ups and we can handle it. Seeing you suffer alone would be a thousand times worse on all of us - and it is."
"You're going to have your good days, and you're going to have your bad, but that's okay. 'Cause if you had no bad days, then how could you ever realize just how good the good days are. Now I'm not sayin' that bad days won't be tough, they will be. But that's why you have us and your sisters. You aren't a burden to anyone, Emmaline, and the only burden I see are the thoughts you keep tellin' yourself." She hugged her tighter for a moment, before kissing her cheek and letting her go. "It's going to take time, Emma, a hell of a lot of it, but we're here for you - every one of us, every step of the way. We love you."
