luke and percy character foils go CRAZY. percy is literally thinking about the gods the way luke does. where they branch off is how they execute those ideals. but everything percy has been saying these past episodes about the gods is exactly the words luke uses.

hmm you know at first I wasn't sure how to feel about percy just falling in bc in the book it was the first time he actually asked poseidon for help and it was like a big moment for him but actually I might like this better. it's like poseidon saying 'you don't have to earn my love', which is what percy has desperately needed to hear since getting to camp, and was vocalizing to annabeth earlier in the episode. percy is angry but he doesn't WANT to become jaded. every demigod he's met so far is resigned to having to jump through hoops for affection, and percy is right to call it out. athena literally threatens annabeth's life because she embarrassed her. percy makes it clear he has no respect for his father, so by all accounts poseidon should be treating him the same way. but then he's dying, with no respect, no pride, no glory. and his father saves him anyway.

also im obsessed w the way annabeths reasoning for believing in & respecting the gods is because even though neither her mortal parents nor her godly parent are willing to just give her love at least she knows that theres a formula she can use to earn it from her mother in a way she cant with her father.
