Teaching my son about the wonders of bubble gum. (at Oakland, California)
Hot summer read. Loved the book just as much as the movie! Each makes the most of its medium to tell this story about first love. I was feeling under the weather earlier this week, but it’s given me time to catch up on some books and shows. #20 in the #2018readingchallenge (at Lakeview Branch Library)
That feeling when, after two years of hard work, you finally finish an entire tube of chapstick before losing it.
Baby’s first time at Cracker Barrel. Enjoying the finest Utah has to offer! But for reals - we also saw Queen Janelle Monae perform and went hot springs swimming in a crater (not at the same time). 💛 (at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store)
🎵 Love The Way You Lie 🎵 #cat #music #inspiration (at Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Oakland)
This is “Tree for Codes” by Jonathan Safran Foer. He took another novel (written by someone else) called “Street of Crocodiles,” and cut it down to create this work of sculpture-poetry. (If you cut out letters of the original title you get the new title! Took me a while to realize that.) Cool recommendation from @taratan for #19 in the #2018readingchallenge. (at Lake Merritt)

Gotta love that fake ivy. #hardhatsmandatory (at Oakland, California)
You can get some great artwork at IKEA, including this huge picture of a boy hugging a fish. #classic #ikea (at IKEA)
The book is good. The Starz series looks terrible (though I still might watch it). Plus two more Maira Kalman books makes these #16-18 in the #2018readingchallenge. (at Oakland, California)
Beach babbies! (at Lanikai Beach,Kailua)
A little Biggar. A treasure unearthed while cleaning out Lindsay’s family garage. (at Silverado Resort and Spa)
Books #9-#12 in the #2018readingchallenge. Yes, most of these are childen’s books and, yes, I have added an equivalent total to my goal for the year! (Not trying to cheat, y’all. I just wanted to read everything illustrated by one of my artists, Maira Kalman. #nevertooold) Red Clocks, the only non-kids book, feels like an essential survival guide for women in a post-Trump era - hope you read it if you’re into that sort of thing. (at Oakland, California)
Two poetry books, one old and one new, make these #7 and #8 in the #2018readingchallenge. One is about love and heartbreak from the perspective of a young man, and the other is about love and heartbreak from the perspective of a young woman. Both are worth reading. (at Oakland, California)
I’m obsessed with him!! (at Oakland, California)
#tbt to this great cat I saw while walking home a few weeks ago. #whiteonwhiteonwhite (at Lake Merritt)
