Ugh, this is one of the main reasons why I have issues with Jeremiah.

His constant need to compare and contrast himself with Conrad. Like, he's the one obsessed with his own brother, not everyone else.

Jeremiah's "Conrad leaves" jab exposes his insecurity and shows exactly why Belly & Conrad's connection is irreplaceable. Belly has already lived the truth — Conrad never really leaves her. Even when they're apart, he's woven into her life in a way that Jeremiah can't replicate.

And, his timing with saying this is so ironic. When he says this, it's after he's literally been gone all day long — literally, it's been enough time for Belly to even question if he'd come back. Soooo, it's like really Jeremiah, really; when he tries to position himself as the one who "always comes back", it just rings hollow — he undercuts his own argument, because Belly is literally on the cusp of having just experienced the opposite.
