Hello~
I love your gifs so, so much.
I wanted to ask whether you had any tips/advice for giffing animated content? I gif stuff but, it's all been of real people and I was curious whether you had any advice for cartoons/animation. (My hope is that it's not as challenging as giffing real people can be lol but, I'm sure giffing animation comes with its own set of struggles.)
Thanks for taking the time to read my ask and any advice you're able to offer! <3
thanks so much for the compliment, anon! you're the best! ☆
i agree that creating gifs of live actions/real people is more of a challenge compared to that of cartoon/animation gifs. there's only really one tip/advice regarding creating gifs of cartoons or animations that i find really useful!
→ Requires little to no editing
i find that gif-making live action/real people often is more challenging due to wanting to achieve the best quality through coloring, editing, individual frames, etc. however, i feel that animation/cartoons comes easier as they don't require as much steps. high-end software and resources such as adobe photoshop are useful to get the best results, but i feel that any software works. personally, i don't use adobe photoshop. there is actually only three steps i use for my animation/cartoons gifs process:
1. Video clips (no frame-by-frame editing) 2. Sharpening 3. Noise / Grain effects
compared to my almost ten-step routine with live action/real people gifs (😭), i only have three for animations/cartoons. i feel doing as little editing as possible achieves the best results. heavy editing, coloring, etc. is not always needed. of course, it is up to what is best for the person ❤️! i find that the bare minimum, such as only coloring + sharpening, goes really far for animation/cartoons gifs!
Example:
this gif i made only took three steps, as mentioned before: clips, sharpening, and noise/grain effects. still, i was able to achieve a high-quality gif without the extra steps of editing frame-by-frame, etc. since i don't use adobe photoshop, the process may be a bit different. however, the steps should be the same!
i hopes this helps you with your future gif-making anon!
