“Your worst day is somebody’s best day.” As someone who has struggled with the sin of discontentment, especially in my Christian walk, this is a quote I’ve embodied on my roughest days. It helps to put a tough day into perspective and recognize that even in my trials, there is someone who experiencing harder ones. On this day where the world recognizes “love,” I would encourage you to express it those that are hurting—those who have lost spouses, parents, children; lost someone or something; who perhaps haven’t experienced love in the way you have. Here are just a few Bible verses I’ve mediated on today and prayed for myself and friends: ❣️ “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” - Psalm 34:18 (ESV) ❣️”He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” - Micah 6:8 (ESV) ❣️ “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” - John 15:13 (ESV) // On all days love kindness. Choose it. Lavish it on others. Consider others before yourself. Reach out to someone who may be, or feel, alone. Find practical ways to show love. I was reading a tweet from a father who lost his daughter a year ago today in the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida. He could not remember if he said I love you, but he did remember rushing his children out the door for school. Don’t rush through life, friends. Say the words. Speak the truth, but speak it in love. Love abundantly. Love often. Choose it. Make it heard and seen. I coordinate the baby showers/sprinkles for our homeschool community. A rainy 🌧 day meant having to postpone one set for today. I try to make favors that are a) low cost and b) super easy. This was the easiest one yet. The "Ahoy" on the cookies bag fits with our theme and super easy for every one to take one. I didn't have to do anything except buy them and print out a little sign! I've had this basket since my son's first birthday when his favors were in it and have used it for almost every birthday since and for his little brother now too. It's the perfect size and is open so kids can grab their favors. Those little skinny legs get me. 😍 I am not a fan of toys with pieces. I believe he received this for his first birthday and all he would do is take the tower apart and throw the balls under the couch. So it's been in our attic since then. I recently bought it down, and age truly does help. I can't tell you how many times he takes the balls, places them on the top and watches them go around and around. I can practice colors with this toy, count the stacks and maybe even make music with the shaker balls. But with this, I just let him do his thing. One day I should share my story on how I started caring more about living a healthier lifestyle. Hint: It had to do with popcorn. One of the major changes we made in our home was eliminating as much plastic as we could, specifically what we stored our food in. I love glass products and my favorite by far is our @lifefactory sets. (The focus is on the red lids because I had to ask which size belonged to my mom that she gave me food in and I've kept for months. 😄) I don't worry about them breaking at all. @pyrexhome is also good. And we have small Glasslock glass containers from @thecontainerstore. I'm also a fan of stainless steel. Sorry I have been MIA. It's both that I needed time away from social media to be more focused on my home but also binge watched old shows on Netflix, so you know, a little give and take. Is there anything better than a balloon for a child? My older son would ask for me to buy a pack of balloons when he was younger to always have on hand in his drawer. Now my little one loves them too. These are leftover from the 72 balloons I blew up for my older son's birthday in January. 😳 They hit them with their baseball bats and play catch with one another. But I snapped this photo of my youngin' simply throwing it in the air and catching it. Over and over again. See? No reason to spend money on fancy toys. And here he's working on his hand-eye coordination and throwing and catching skills. I love the tippy toes in this photo and brother's old baseball glove on the floor that now goes everywhere with Z. Sometimes our activities are learning life skills and how to make contributions to our home and family. This afternoon, Z emptied an entire case of water for me and placed each bottle in the fridge. He lined them up properly and counted them all. How many skills did we work on!? I normally don't buy water in plastic bottles but a friend gifted the case to me. I love my little salt and pepper shaker set I bought while in Brasil. I needed a set too. I appreciate the sweet reminders of my second language around my home.
