Yo so all those blogs that make fun of “bad” writers/artists that started popping up like weeds when I was a wee child starting to get to know the internet made it impossible for me to even think about writing or drawing or simply enjoying something without being like “you’re a disgusting cringefest, please stop” do you have any advice? Cos like... I do like things. I also wanna create content. I wanna tell other people I enjoy what they’ve made. But trying to do so makes me upset :’)
I know it’s noteasy. I know that of course you’ve tried that but you just can’t and there’salways a nagging voice in your mind telling you that hey that’s a shitty piece of work and people wouldn’t like that. Iknow that.
Some people willnot like your work. Some people will complain about tropes that you are fondof. Some people will make fun of something you find fun. Some people will act asif content creators are their slaves and that they should just abide toeverything they like and if you don’t uwuyou’re horrible stop that.
So it that’s thepoint then why create, right?
Here it is, yourgoal is to have people who will like your work like the way you’re enjoying it?I have some news for you, buddy.
Some people will like your work. Somepeople want to see more of the trope you are fond of. Some people will enjoywhat you find fun. Some people will encourage you to do what you want, supportyou, and will patiently wait for you to produce that content.
And that’s true.Someone will always like what you do. No matter how shitty, weird, overrated,or underrated you think that idea is, someonewill like it. Someone will want it.
And you should like it. You should want it.
You will fall inlove with your style. You will find people who will fall in love your style.
And how willthis happen? How will you find these people?
It’s not easy.Writing is not easy. Creating anything out of nothing is not easy. Puttingyourself out there for people to criticize is not easy. But goddamn, thesatisfaction of knowing yes I did it, Idid the thing, I have it in me, I can do this, that…that evens out thestruggle.
Do it. Andeverytime you think of those who will make fun of your works?
Try to thinkabout those people will find comfort on them. Try to think of the new ideas andpoint of views you can open up to them. Try to think of the people who can makesmile at 2am because of your words. Think of them. Think of you.
And that, willkeep you going.
