Unseen Zep photos from 1977 °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
These are all from Led Zeppelin’s performance in Landover, Maryland in May 1977. Photographed by Bill “Wheelz” Wheeler. These photos originate from the first 3 nights of Zeppelin’s 4 night stay in Landover.
These were posted by LedZepNews and they also interviewed Wheeler. Here are some of my favorite quotes from that interview :)
- “The first show happened to be the same night as my high school graduation ceremony, I didn’t go to graduation; I went to Led Zeppelin.”
- “Looking back on it, though, the acoustic set really kicked me in the ass. They started slow with the ‘The Battle of Evermore’ and ‘Going to California’ and then John Bonham came in and lit it up with ‘Bron-Y-Aur Stomp’. I really enjoyed the whole thing from the start. The way they came out and opened with ‘The Song Remains the Same’, I was blown away.”
- “I pretty much got to a point where I thought I knew what I was doing. The stage was like 11 feet tall, so I had to stand on a chair to get some of the shots. I would even go to my friend’s seats a couple of rows back to capture the whole band.”
- “I think I was home for about 15 minutes, and they were already in the development tank,” he says. “I was printing them about an hour later. That’s how it was after nearly every concert I went to. That was my passion.”
- “Looking back at it after all these years, watching the footage and looking at the shots, I know they’re gold, just in my eye, to see people’s interest in it hold up through time is overwhelming.”
