Honestly, every take of Daemon Targaryen works for me. I don't care if someone loves him or despises him.
You think he was evil who only wanted power and legacy? Well guess what, he gets it. His son becomes King in the end. His daughter gets Driftmark.
He never loved Rhaenyra? Well fuck that. He got to bang a gorgeous Queen and made legitimate, pure Targaryen heirs with her.
He never loved Laena? fuck it, atleast he permanently got the Velaryons on his side.
He didn't care about his kids? So what, they survived and still went on to rule everything.
He never cared for anyone? Well, he still got everyone to love him and fulfilled his desires.
Nobody wanted him in power? Well, guess he successfully gaslit the realm into cheering for him when he won battles, tourneys, helped reduce crimes or saved them from Vhagar and fucked Aemond up in maybe a not so nice way. Good for him.
He was a blood supremacist? Well, he got validated since his pure Targaryen line went on to win everything.
He killed Rhea Royce? Well, he got away and it didn't even affect Vale's loyalty towards his side!
He killed Harwin and Laenor? Literally nobody cared and he got away with it!
He would've killed Poor Alicent and her kids? Well, if he did, originally it would've made everyone hate him but because of the Green's war, everyone cheered when they died and Daemon didn't even get hated for it!
He caused the war? Well! Lucky for him, nobody remembered that and just blamed the Greens!
