I'm not saying that if you dislike Korra you're a misogynist, all I'm saying is that when I was young and super deep in internalised misogyny and I first watched the show, I really, really hated her.
And then I rewatched the show in my late teens after working on myself and being in a generally better place mentally and I ended up really loving her.
To the people in my reblogs and replies on this posts saying "well I would've disliked Korra even if she were a man because of x, y and z" I better not see ANY of you being fans of Zuko, Sokka or even Aang, who are all characters who have done things you cite not liking Korra for, but get a pass because of their maleness.
Of course it is easy for you to notice these traits that you dislike about a female character and say you would dislike them in a male character as well, but I would bet good money many of ya'll would gloss over a male character having these 'undesirable' traits. We gloss over flaws in men all the time, but the moment a woman displays them, we all become hyper aware of them and all need to stop and look at her and examine whether she should be punished.
One thing that genuinely puzzles me in this fandom is how Lin ends up with the 'man' treatment most of the time (i.e. her undesirable behaviors are glossed over). Is it because she's older? I really don't know. All I know is that I hardly ever see anyone criticize her character for the same things they hate Korra for (being rude, impulsive, violent, etc.). ((I always enjoy your balanced analyses))
Anyway, it's a shame how some people can't just enjoy characters being a hot mess lol.
