“Well you’re not forward in the slightest are you, sweetheart?” Alistair chuckled, leaning forward, resting his elbows on his thighs. “Alright queen.... I didn’t quite get your name blondie. I’m Alistair”

“Yep, it is. Honestly, count me in, we all should stay little forever. I hope you saved me princess crown as well, I need to play my part very well.”

“I even saved you a seat next Winnie the pooh. What kind of friend do you think I am?”

“That’s my main problem though, I like giving her my attention – I swear I try to act less attached than I am. She just started too soon, you know? She was tripping over her own feet and chewing napkins only months ago and now she’s suddenly counting to three and feeding her cats all on her own. You’re supposed to enjoy the freedom it brings, aren’t you?”

“Yeah but don’t you like watching the game instead of watching Doc McStuffins on Sundays? I mean I’m not really on board with the pre-school thing just yet but on days when it’s just me and her all day, I cherish nap time”

“That one’s definitely the winner,” said Ade with a simply nod of his head, smile breaking out across his features. “Advice? I think the best I can say is that you just get on with it and you keep busy. Keeping busy is always the key when you want to try and keep your mind of something. But so long as she’s happy, you should be happy, too.”

“Thanks, I was really nervous it didn’t look good on me” He played along, a laugh escaping his lips. “Alright, I know. You’re right. It’s only four hours a day man, I’m losing it”

“She is. Boy are you gonna be in trouble when she gets older and boys enter the picture,” Robyn said with a chuckle. “There’s just always something with childbirth that does that or at least that’s what I heard,” She said, thinking about the fact she wanted kids. “Seriously,” She said before looking at his daughter and seeing she wasn’t looking before they switched. “The things you do for little girls,”

“I know, which is why I’m freaking out about pre-school to be honest” he replied, rubbing his palm down his face. “Yeah, I swear I tell people she’s gonna be my one but who knows” Em’s mother wasn’t really in the picture and it made him extremely cautious, maybe even cold but slowly he found his way - his daughter being the reason. “Oh you’ll understand when you have one of your own, the other night she had me dress up as a fairy god mother”

“The one that yells at every little kid that walks by?!” Callisto exclaimed. “How could you?” She knew that he was joking around but really, how could he even joke like that? “Pre-school? That’s huge Emmie. You’re such a big girl.” Callisto smiled, widely. “I think you should. It’ll be so much fun.”

“You know it’ll be there even when we’re both old and gray” There was something so light about their friendship that Alistair loved. The small girl simply nodded, a proud look on her face when Calli complimented her. “We can always try it, right?” The father reassured his daughter before turning his attention back to the brunette. “So do you want to go to dinner with us tonight? Em wants pizza”

“Maybe she has a future on Wall Street.” Cal laughed. “Or the Canadian version of Wall Street. Oh, well, great. It looks great on me, right?”

“She’ll be the one person on wall street still dressed like a princess” He added, fidgeting in the small chair he was in. “Yeah man, you should really consider wearing it full time”

“Yeah sorry. I’m not one to pretend with people. I’m really more of a ‘the truth will set you free’ type of people,” Roisin joked, taking a few pictures of him with his crown. “I wasn’t thinking of Instagram. I was thinking more along the lines of framing it and hanging it up in my photography studio.”

“Well I guess I can’t be upset at that can I?” He chuckled, grabbing a tea cup from the table as he playfully posed for her pictures. “At least get my good side. what do you think you’ll title it?”

    Seeing Alistair wearing a tiara reminded Jon of when his own daughter was younger; as Princess Belle was her idol growing up. “Pre-school? God, she’s young.” He stated, smiling at his friend before continuing. “Enjoy it while you can my friend, because she will grow up before you know it.” He spoke a few words of encouragement.

“She’s young and too smart for her own good honestly” Alistair commented, his arms folding over his chest as he leaned back against the all too small chair he was in. “Yeah... I know you’re right. Just the other day I was going to strap her into her car seat and she shoved my hands away and told me she wasn’t a baby anymore. I nearly sobbed”

Rhea smiled at his words. She wasn’t quite sure if Alex had any idea about her dark alcoholic secret when her life in California pretty much had it’s good and bad days. She tended to think he was aware of only the good ones because this meant she hadn’t messed up everything with everyone. “Now you sound like Loren.” She went serious for a moment though there was no way she could be mad at her older brother or anyone like him who simply seemed to care about her. “How about tonight?” She suggested, tilting her head to one side to see where he went. Her eyes immediately flickered at the sight of the cupcake. “Thank you Alex.”

Alistair had been friends with Rhea for quite awhile, meeting in California and then reconnecting when he had moved to Montreal less than a year ago. She was truthfully one of he closest friends and someone he really enjoyed being around. “Wise words, wise guy” He replied. “Sure, Em’s staying the night with her cousin so I’m free. Pick you up around 7? I’ve got to close the store but I’ll try to be on time” A teasing grin on his lips just as he placed small pastry down in front of her. “Make a wish and don’t forget to make it good. You only get one a year”

Lux giggled slightly. “I don’t think it, um, really works like that,” she said. “It’s, um, it’s sweet, though. It’ll get better, I’m sure. I bet it’ll help when she’s, um, when she’s excited to go and be there.”

“I know but it was worth the try, wishful thinking and what not” Alistair sighed, a small grin on his face. “She’s already over the moon excited. Her cousin has been telling her stories about school for months now”

“Oh, first day of school, that’s a big one isn’t it?” Violet smiled wide, even though she didn’t care for kids or hearing about them in the slightest. “That explains the tiara, very cute, but I think you just got swindled by your daughter.”

“Pretty big. I mean it’s pre-school so it lasts a total of four hours but hey, that’s huge” Alistair couldn’t help how completely goofy he sounded from time to time, fatherhood will do that to a guy. “You don’t think I know this? I’m scared the older she gets the more she’s gonna get out of me”

“It’s a cute crown,” he commented. “Probably more so on a child, but you’re not doing so bad pulling it off yourself. A princess tea party seems like a pretty good deal to me.”

“Thanks, I heard it brings out my eyes” Alistair laughed, pushing a small chair in the man’s direction. “Just you wait, she’s in the kitchen right now making dessert”

“It probably is” Kenny smiled “I’ve heard enough parents freak out over this every time back to school season arrives”. He wouldn’t know because he didn’t have kids but he could imagine what it was like. He had seen anxiety in his mother’s eyes when he met Rachel for the first time; it wasn’t quite the same but it was still somehow similar. “If she needs more guests for her tea party, I volonteer”.

“Yeah, I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s crazy how fast she’s growing up... and how old I’m getting actually” Alistair cringe at the thought, before chuckling at how foolish he was being. “Have a seat man, I’m not giving you a chance to back out”

“Damn, does that work? Can I get $10 before I turn 30?” Darcy laughed. “But, like, when she’s older, you still get to do some pretty cool stuff. What about when she aces her first test and she comes in all proud of herself? Or when she introduces you to a TV show that she really likes, or new music, and you like it, too? But I have to say, that tiara looks great.”

“I would as for a little more than ten, if I were you” Alistair teased the brunette. “But yeah you’re right. I need to stop being in my head and let things happen. I thought dads weren’t supposed to be all emotional and here I am having a panic attack over 4 hours a day. And thanks, I thought the color would bring out my eyes”

“I’m not sure ten dollars is enough to Peter Pan her,” Francesca said skeptically, although laughing softly. “A tea party is great, though. You really should take advantage of all the time you have with her. Because before you know it, she’s going to be a teenager or in high school or moving out for college. It’s all part of growing up.”

“What are you thinking? twenty,maybe?” The father joked, a small smile on his lips. “..... She’s only four. Now we’re talking about her moving out? I need a drink stronger than this apple juice”
