“I could go for some food,” Violet laughed softly, adding a slight nod. “I’ve never liked pot noodles, but the foreign ones that come in bowls are quite good. We could go to a corner shop and grab some of those, some wine, heels off and get cosy for the evening?”

The hard work paid off, in the end.” A small smile was etched on the woman’s features, the occasional good news spreading some colour on her otherwise monotonous life. “Honestly, I’d kill for some cup noodles right now. Violet wanted to roll her eyes at that, whether she was expecting higher praise or pushing away the compliment Vi couldn’t stand it. She cocked her head to the side with a smile and a half shrug, “It’s a good word though.” She reassured, starting to laugh. “Well, for that I would recommend the local supermarket.”

“Oh, can you please hold on a second?” she asked as she pulled a flyer out of the book she was carrying. “I don’t know if you’d be interested, but… So there’s gonna be a bake sale at my church. You should really stop by on Saturday. We’re raising money for scholarships for some of the kids in the neighborhood who really need it.”

“Hm?” Violet paused and turned to face the pretty young girl. “Oh, this Saturday?” She had a party in the afternoon, but she could probably make time in the morning on her way. It would be a good thing for her family, her parents would appreciate it for sure. “What time do you start?” The blonde asked, taking the flyer from her.

“I think closing a deal on a $50 million investment warrants a long-overdue vacation, don’t you think?” Lucia remarked eagerly, the rare bout of good news causing her crimson-tainted lips to curl up all the more. Only when she had paid a quick glance at her watch - which had indicated 5:03pm - did she realize that lunch had yet to cross her mind. “Though I suppose my main objective is to grab a bite first. Care to recommend me a place?”

“Definitely, that’s impressive.” Violet agreed, thinking the redhead was simply bragging. She found it unbecoming, and despite her own snobbery she didn’t like it on Lucia much. “Are you looking for like a three course meal, or somewhere casual?”

“Screw that,” Rhea raised her voice only a bit. “Let’s go to a fancy restaurant after we both finish work.” She suggested with a sly smile. “I may even use my mother’s name to pay the bill.”

“Yeah? You’re happy with no big birthday bash?” Vi questioned, because she’d seemed down about it before she questioned if this was just so it wasn’t obvious how much the party meant, or something. “That does sound fun though, most expensive wine and meal on the menu?” Vi grinned cheekily, “Each?”

Most embarrassing story?

Do I have to say? Ugh, okay. When I was nineteen, I was just starting out. I had an after school job with an event planner. Planning ahead! But I was young. I was doing some admin and I accidentally mixed up the two acts for each. In the end, a clown performed at a hen night and a male stripper troupe at a kid’s birthday party. It was humiliating, all those parents staring at me like I was disgusting for showing them to kids. The men were nice in the end, they put on their tops and gave piggy back rides but... Christ it was embarrassing.

Violet looked at her with a slight shake of her head, “So it’s not a surprise party, you’ll still have a great time. I’ll make sure of it.” She nodded her agreement to planning her a party, even though she didn’t fancy doing it at all. It was her job, she didn’t need extra planning in her spare time. “Get me a list of everyone you want to invite. I can make it a surprise if you like though, you wont know it’s coming.”
