"You will find truth more quickly through delight than gravity. Let out a little more string on your kite." -Alan Cohen // 27/m/melbourne (me, not Alan Cohen) Some NSFW stuff, be 18+ only and all that.
If you are unsure where youâre going in life, I recommend getting on an escalator. Beyond the immediate sense of direction, you can accomplish something (reaching another floor). At this point you can talk to someone, have a little chat. If you ask a person a question right off the bat, they will answer it, even if they donât understand why youâre asking. I donât know why, but I can assure you that it is the case. For example, you can ask: If you could only have one pizza topping forever, what would it be? Thereâs a good chance you will have something to say to their response (âI think mushrooms would make me feel too cloggedâ), perhaps it will make them laugh, perhaps theyâll make a joke in return, to hold their own, perhaps now the exchange will develop into quite the little conversation before they remember to ask why youâre talking to them. Then not only have you accomplished something, but you have made a genuine, if modest, connection with another human being. This is indeed something to be proud of, my lost one.
Now you can wander around. Not like before you boarded the escalator, wandering in life, but just a slow little dance of the unwinding feet. You will in short order come across a security guard (most places with escalators have them). The best thing to do at this point is to try to make them suspicious in any way possible (for example, glance in their direction at 5-10 second intervals, and shove your hand into your pocket whenever they look at you.) Do this continuously until they come over to you and say something polite and and threatening (âHowâs it going?â). Respond with perfect naive honesty (âIâm a bit sad today because my wife isnât replying to my texts. Do you think I should just call her instead? She hates phone calls, they make her nervous.â). Play this delightful little pas de deux until they give up, which they will, nobody wants to shoulder sole responsibility for establishing order from chaos. So listen to their vague but threatening farewell (âJust take it easy, alright?), and their walk away. Security guards usually wear sensible shoes, and the soft yet firm tap of them on a shiny floor can be quite the little aural massage if you listen for it.
Now you have not only 1. accomplished something and 2. made a genuine connection with another human being, but also 3. fulfilled your obligations as a citizen: spoken truth to power.
At this point Iâd imagine it should be eminently clear to any reader, that you can simply wander back down the escalator, back into the âmuckâ, so called, of your life, and if you donât feel just like grabbing a slice of pizza and having a laugh at the glory of existence, well then I donât know what else I can do for you.
Try to be original in your play and as clever as possible; but don't be afraid to show yourself foolish; we must have freedom of thinking, and only he is an emancipated thinker who is not afraid to write foolish things. Don't round things out, don't polishâbut be awkward and impudent. Brevity is the sister of talent. Remember, by the way, that declarations of love, the infidelity of husbands and wives; widows', orphans', and all other tears, have long since been written up. The subject ought to be new, but there need be no "fable." And the main thing isâfather and mother must eat. Write. Flies purify the air, and playsâthe morals.
I been writing poems lately. Got a notebook almost full with them. Some Iâm into some Iâm not. Wrote this one in the last couple days and I think Iâm into it.
Reading a pamphlet
You might find some useful information
You might get information about sexual health
Or you might find out about a free concert
These are important things to know when living in a big city
Many many people are around you
Some of them have penises
Some of them have vaginas
Some of them have genitals that donât conform to either of these two categories
But they all loved Gossip Girl
Some of them loved Serena the most
Some of them loved Blair the most
Some of them loved Chuck the most
Some of them loved multiple characters equally
But they all felt a strange pull
An affinity that could not be denied
So they watched one season and then another
Some of them alone
Hiding from their spouses
With all the lights turned off so their face didnât reflect in their screen and remind them of their shame
Some with another person
At regular weekly times
Others even in groups
Gatherings
Mobs of 25 or more that formed crowded around purpose built or makeshift screens in parks or other public places
But all of them began with an affinity
A strange pull
A hook into the stomach from those voices and those skirts
Then they became curious about who Gossip Girlâs real identity was
At least about 80% of them did
But only 13% continued watching to the point of the Big Reveal
2.7% had become dead or otherwise unable to watch television by that time
It all started when Sergeant Eric Allen found posters on the walls of inmate Susie Chavezâs jail cell inside Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. A disturbing video released Wednesday shows Allen, who is in charge of training other jailers on use-of-force, instructing another guard to put Chavez in a wrist-lock because she wouldnât [âŠ]
The video shows a female jailer pull Chavez, the tiny female inmate, up from the ground by her hair.
âWhatâs your name?â Chavez demanded.
It only takes a second for another male officer standing nearby to pull out a stun gun, tasering Chavez, apparently for asking for the female jailerâs name.
As Chavez falls to the ground from being tasered, Sgt. Allen says coldly, âstop resisting.â
âI wasnât.â
âYes ⊠you were,â added allen, slightly joyed.
âStay right there. Donât move,â Allen told Chavez, hovering over her.
Chavez begins crying, and sobbing out in pain, apparently from being tasered by the male jailer after asking for the female jailerâs name.
âI need you to be quiet. Quiet!â yells Allen. âI need you to stay there until weâre done.
Chavez continues to call out in pain, seemingly hoping for one of the other officers to stand up for her.
But that never happens.
Sgt. Allen then instructs, âPut her in a wrist lock, and twist her wrist until she shuts up and stops crying.â
Allen then walks inside of a room, although the video does not show him since itâs recorded from the perspective of his body cam.
Chavez begins asking the female officer her name, which she never responds to.
Obeying every command, the male jailer and the female jailer hold Chavez down and administer a wrist-lock.
âAh, fuck!â Chavez screams out.
âBe quiet,â the female jailer attempts to hush the woman.
âYouâre going to break my fucking wrist!â Chavez shouts. âThat fucking hurts!â
âBe quiet! Be quiet! Be quiet!â
Video then shows the female jailer holding Chavez in a wrist lock saying, âlift your head up.â
âThat fucking hurts!â
Chavez Screams out in pain, âyouâre going to break my fucking wrist, bitch!â
Sgt. Allen then tells Chavez to stop crying, so she can be taken to medical.
As sheâs being taken down the jailâs corridor, Chavez continues crying, protesting the officers who assaulted her.
âStop. Stop. Stop,â Allen repeats, attempting to quell the grieving motherâs crying.
âYouâre going to get maced,â he humors himself. âYouâre doing it now.â
âIf you donât stop crying, Iâm going to have to mace you.â
âIâm gonna mace her here in a second. Last warning.â
Chavez then pauses in the hallway with her head on the hand railing, and begins crying in grief.
âWe need you to be quiet,â the female jailer tells the grieving woman.
âShe wonât shut up. You wonât shut up, like aâŠâ
âWeâre not trying to hurt you,â the female jailer assured Chavez. âWeâre just here to escort you to medical.â
âYeah, you are, youâre using excessive force.â
âNow youâre getting into stuff where weâre going to hurt you over. You need to be quiet.â
A few seconds go by before the condescending jailer quips again.
âJust like you are right now.â
Chavez then bangs her head on the floor at which point she is maced.
After she begins drooling, reacting to the mace, a mask is placed over her head to prevent her from spitting.
If you treat another human being like this, YOUâRE the fucking criminal.
I donât know how they could face their friends and neighbors knowing this video is out there.
Any decent human being can not watch that and not have their stomach turn. Still wondering why after 8 months the DA hasnât charged the people involved with this yet. Iâm also surprised this hasnât been on any national news media yet.
There really needs to be harsher punishments for people that abuse their authority over people in their care.
Concept: You teaching me your native tongue and I canât help but watch your lips as you enunciate your words and then thereâs kissing just lots of kissing between hushed words of different languages spoken sweetly.
