Chapter II Just Add Water
"Holy Shit, This house is fucking incredible"
"Watch your mouth" Riley's mother said hitting her upside her head. "Sorry" she rubbed her head.
"It's a five bedroom, five and a half bath." The realtor walked over to them. "With a pool" Her father enthusiastically added. "I couldn't cancel my assignment, so I made it beneficial to everyone. Your mom has the kitchen she always wanted. Then there's the four bedrooms. Your mom and I, your room, one for Ethan, and the guest bedroom. "
"What about the last one?" Riley asked
"Ahh, I knew you were good at math. We know of your obsession with books, so we decided to turn the fifth room into a study slash library. Of course I still have my office on the first floor." Her father announced Another attempt at getting Riley to forgive them for making her move here. "You're not forgiven" She said with a blank expression
"We thought you would say that" Her father smirked "Guess what? We got you a brand new car." Riley's father said not giving her a chance to guess.
"He got you, he got you a brand new car. In my opinion we spoil you way to much, but does he listen? No." Her mom interrupted
"Okay, well, Like I was saying 'I' got you a brand new car. I know your a huge car buff. Your car was getting...Well... Old. So 'I' got you a new one. And sweetie, I'm sorry but the cars your into are just too, uhh expensive. So 'I' got you the newest model of what you already had." He finished; looking at Riley almost as if waiting for her approval.
"Your father and I were thinking about what you said. You know, about you just getting back, and your right. It's unfair and insensitive of us, we're sorry."
"Okay" I nod "You're Forgiven, both of you. Honestly, all I was waiting for was a 'sorry'. You didn't have to get me a car or library. I'll take it though" She plastered a huge smile on her face.
"Seriously?" Riley's mother and father let out in unison
"Seriously, but thank you. I know the bureau didn't pay for the car. So thank you, Very much."
"And..." Her dad led on
"And, Beacon Hills probably won't be as bad as I thought."
"No, No, And..." He tried again
"And, I greatly appreciate the car." She replied
"No, No, about us you 'Blank' us." He made an attempt
"Mom...Dads being wei-" She groaned
"No, No. I want to hear this too." Her mom interrupted
"Uhh, you guys are really messing up what I have going. You know, my image, I have an image." Her parents only replied with a stare "I..uhh...I love you guys." She whispered the last part.
"Aww, we love you too" Her mom said smiling
"Even though I shouldn't have to say it, when you should know" Riley rolled her eyes
"Joyce, on the bright side we get to be close to your brother. He's always complaining over the phone about how he never gets to see you or Riley." Her dad says to his wife ignoring Riley's comment "Yeah, It would be nice to see Bobby." Joyce replied walking over and hugging her husband. "Didn't you say he was a teacher at the local high school?" Steven asked
"Yeah, So Riley might have his class. He teaches...Uhh...Economics, all branches. He also coaches lacrosse. Don't you play lacrosse sweetie?" Joyce looked at Riley
"Yes" She replied half listening while looking at her new car "Maybe you should tryo-"
"Sorry, do you mind if I go visit someone?" Riley interrupted
"Yeah,..um here are your keys house and car. It's a quarter to three, be back by eight." Her dad answered caught off guard by Riley's forwardness
"Already made friends?" Her mom asked suprised
"Something like that." She yelled getting into her car.
"Okay, Let's see" She turned on the GPS " Ethan said their new address was 2367 Sherwood drive." She said typing in the address and zip code.
"Your route guidance will start now." The screen says approximately fifthteen minutes, as she starts driving.
---------------------------------------------
Within eight minutes of the drive, Riley's driving down a deserted road. As she's driving she sees a blue jeep pulled along side the road with a smoking engine. She pulls up in front of the jeep and gets out.
"Need help?" She asked covering her eyes from the sun
"Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with it." The owner of the voice reveals himself. A male with dark brown hair and a tall body frame. He walked around in front of the car and looked at her.
"Mind if I take a look?" She asked
"Sure, I'm at the end of the ropes." he yelled
When Riley takes a look at the engine she sees nothing but duct tape.
"Ahh, I see the problem. Someone covered your engine with duct tape." She took a look at him after hearing him scoff at her comment
"Are you trying to be funny? Because that's not funny." He sarcastically said shaking his head. "Calm down, Do you have any tools in your car?" Riley asked seriously
"Yeah" He walks around to the back. When he comes back around he has a tool box in hand.
"I think I know what's wrong with it. Just give me a few minutes." She took wrench and got to work.
About six minutes pass before she could say "Almost done, Do you have any anti- Freeze?"
"No" he replies putting away his phone.
"How about a bottle of water?"
"Yeah" he walks back to the jeep and returns with a bottle of water and hands it to her.
"Thanks" she took take the bottle and poured the water in the radiator. "Okay, try it now" he gets into the jeep and turns the key, the roar of the engine filled their ears"
"Yes! that is what Iike to hear! Thank you!" He yelled rather dramatically "It was just your car over heated, but I went ahead and tighten some bolts to get rid of some of the uhh...Duct tape. I didn't fix the problem. How far are you going?"
"Uhh...about fifthteen to twenty minutes." He replied
"You'll make it, but overall you need a new car. All that duct tape isn't going to keep helping."
"Yeah, I know that's what everyone keeps saying. But I will never abandon this jeep! Understand me? EVER!"
"Well that's up to you, but I gotta go, happy to help." She replied walking to her car
"A few is three" he said under his breath As he closed the hood and walked away "What?" She turn around
"Huh?" He replies looking confused "What did you just say?" She replied a little impatient
"How did you hea-, I said a few is three. You said it would only take a few minutes to fix my car, but you took about seven. So that's why I said a few is three."
"Oh, see you around." She replied opening the door to her car. He looked confused "I've heard it's a small town." She assure him.
