Censorship in 2017 - Facebook's Chilling effect.
I got my first Zucc (the colloquial name for Facebook bans) earlier this year, I had jokingly reposted a random photo from one of the many troll / meme pages that I follow on the now ubiquitous platform for an occasional edgy laugh. It was a great joke, I was on shift work so I didn't even know that the ban existed until it had expired.
When the next 3 day ban rolled in it wasn’t so funny.
I'm currently in the process of buying a house and my main contact to the real estate agent has been through Facebook Messenger. Facebook Messenger - currently titled simply “Messenger”, is included in the ban.
Slowly, Messenger has replaced how I deal with people, replacing text messaging with its ongoing presence between platforms. Now, no more lifts to the pub, no more sharing funny cat videos with my sister and no more messages to my friends at 3am to remind them to drink water.
In hindsight I can see how someone could be triggered over the word “whore” - the context being that I had written a 1 star review of a throwaway meme page that had been sold to russian clickbait scammers. So I did wrong, yeah, but I said the words so I’ll stand by them.
I live my life fairly independently, but for someone else who might rely on the service to communicate with people this would be an insanely dangerous situation.
A better written and certainly higher moral standing account of Facebook censorship can be found here - Getting banned from Facebook can have unexpected and professionally devastating consequences
At a park and gardens somewhere in San Francisco.
When people say that it’s the most beautiful city in America this must be what they talk about, because the actual city was terrible.

Arizona’s heat was oppressive - but the landscape was worth it.
Trying my best to emulate Ansel Adams, Imitation is flattery right?
I doubt he had to crop out tourist cars and deal with no tripod :)
San Deigo Zoo had an amazing number of snakes - most of the photo’s I took on the day were trash but a few turned out well
