Asked about the shop, Luanâs smile widened into a proper grin, joy clear in his expression. âIâm buying vegetables,â he stated as though that alone would explain how the shop was doing. âI mean, I can afford vegetables⊠Itâs going pretty well.â Until then he had been living on off-brand cereal and the occasional sandwich so to be able to not only put vegetables in his cart but actually pay for them was a blessing he truly did not have words for. âIâve had so much sugar.â His last comment was quieter now as though it was a secret that he had been living like an unsupervised five-year-old at a birthday party -all sugar and no one to stop him.
Lexx let out a laugh. "I'm glad, man. Veggies are very necessary and very yummy. Ever had zucchini pizza? It's delicious!" he was very excited to share his cast cooking knowledge, loving to know other people were eating well. "College was all sugar for me, honestly. Those communal kitchens were killer." He remembered those dark, sugar-coated days with a shiver.
