BRIDGERTON (2020-)
KATE AND ANTHONY
3.01 Out of the Shadows
3.07 Joining of Hands
OMG! Anthony and Kate have no physical contact at all? Not even a kiss on the cheek, holding hands, linking arms, or even glances...?
They’re very close in the bedroom scene, and they touch, but no kiss.
Sorry, but I'm cackling. Why even bring Kate back to make her stand away from her husband and the child she literally birthed, lmao? Why am I getting a scene of Kate's mother-in-law and sister-in-law who she hasn't exchanged words with ever holding her child? They should've just left Kate in India or whatever, what's even the point of this nothing-plot? They couldn't even commit to making the most obvious plotline for her: becoming the viscountess, so there's no hope for them being interested in making her do any of substance.
My agnostic ass is praying that she isn't back for S5 (which I believe is VERY likely) and this show actually lets us know, like: "y'all Kate died or whatever and Anthony is single again, go write those Anthony/YN fics, ladiessssss! Yay! Brown woman down!"

– Thanks Dad, but we don’t have a DVD-player. – Thank god.

SENTIMENTAL VALUE (Affeksjonsverdi) dir. Joachim Trier (2025)
Super happy about all the content lately, and I gotta say this, once, about the recent instances of going to the producers:
a) that fandom has complained before when Simone wasn't in 1 production promo for...not her season
b) even Luke fans have taken this approach semi-recently and ironically, they complained when he wasn't in an early production promo for...not his season (talking about the s4 wrap video, way back when, if you remember this happening)
....and for both of these, nothing footage-wise came for them.
I just think it's silly to leave an excessive amount of hate, and beg for your consumption wants.
The marketing team plans what they do, and it's not a day-by-day adjustment by what some people complain about and leave negative feedback for.
c) Kate and Anthony's baby has not been seen on screen yet, so why would they reveal not just a name...but also an image? The polin baby was almost guanteedly announced, because the baby was in the epilogue....in their season, no less. Putting speculation to another instance, I'd almost venture to guess it's the same reason they mentioned Kate and Anthony's wedding after s2 when people were upset there wasn't one (I know ppl hated it, but that was probably their attempt at making people happy. honestly what were they to do by that point?).
d) Shondaland and production are not purposefully not promoting a poc actress. They care about popularity/numbers and who has and can continue to bring the audience in. I think it's time to accept number-wise, season 2 is the least popular season and stop living in a fantasy view of what the viewership was/how the viewing numbers ranked. I saw someone comment, "no one cares about polin; their most popular couple is kanthony."
(*this isn't even hate, i'm just saying because there's so much arguing about the intake of this: Tell me how these results are the immediate eval and already surpassed the others with less time.)
I must admit I find it ironic; you don't get to dangle the white man (Jonathan Bailey) of your season's success over Regé Jean Page, carry out racism to one of the other South Asian actresses on your season, and then cry about Simone being a victim of racism.
Regé Jean Page got tons of press and even got nominated for an Emmy. Luke Newton was receiving the same or less of being shown for promo for years before this. Does this information align with an 'intentional targeting and singling out' narrative for Simone?
e) People are starting to look as unhinged as franchael truthers harassing the comments sections to change Michaela to a man....and look how that worked for them.
f) bonus note: you guys, are almost guaranteed just annoying them and creating less of an interest in providing those individual actors' content (i saw it back with the outrage for Simone in the season 3 announcement, and i thought....well, they're not gonna be very eager to share anything with a rabid fanbase going forward. it might just motivate them towards showing less for the actor (this applies for both Luke and Simone, as well as any other actor).)
g) I wish this fandom wasn't so negative as a whole, and people need to stop taking their frustration out in hating cast members, when they have nothing to do with these points
The only reason why I'm reblogging this is because it was in Simone's hashtag, but the way that the Bridgerton fandom continues to make an active effort to gaslight anyone into believing that the odd behavior this production shows towards Simone/Kate is normal is just exhausting. If you don't have a problem with it, whatever, that's your choice, but do not pretend the way this show acts is in any way normal.
Simone is literally the only actor whose character we haven't seen on not even one glimpse of for this season, not BTS, not on character, nothing at all. Moreover, it took them months to even announce that she was returning, and when they did, it showed that she was demoted (and no, it has nothing to do with screentime, Jonathan Bailey wasn't demoted).
And enough of pretending that S2 was a flop. They barely promoted the season anyone with eyes knows this, I had no idea S2 was coming and just found out the day of release because it was in the Netflix main page. They were so lost after Regé left that they pivoted towards the ensemble show and the one (1) cover the show got and the first exclusive with Entertainment Weekly was with... secondary characters. Jonathan and Simone literally have no interviews together, save for a 30-second clip for Netflix Brasil; no photoshoots: the only BTS video centered around them was released by Shondaland 5 months after the show premiered. And yet:
Furthering the idea that a season led by a non-white woman is actually bad business is insane work and it reminded me of what Harold Perrineau said about how things were handled on Lost:
The Bridgerton fandom believes that they're saying groundbreaking stuff when they say that the show simply promotes those that make them money and it isn't a racial thing, but underneath all of that it's just the same old shit that seasoned actors like Perrineau lived on a set in the 2000.
The idea that this production doesn't give fans what they ask for because they get annoyed by their internet activity is very silly, especially when Polin fans did a whole petition about deleted scenes that never existed and have been so unhinged that even Nicola had to clarify in an interview that no, she doesn't have a secret baby with her costar.
What I will never get is why so many people are bothered when others complain in the show's social media accounts or even randomly tweet without even @'ing the show. Just ignore it, just like you have ignored everything else.
