Miss Universe Vietnam
One of the warmups from my stream! I really wanted to get the feel for my stylus again by working in hatching and textures in the same way I would with pencils (it was fun to say the least)
Like I said before, Vietnamese Keith is one of my favorite headcanons for Voltron bc
1) I’m Vietnamese
2) Vietnamese people are hardly represented in TV shows in general
Voltron leaves a lot of room for Keith’s backstory so I don’t think it’s far fetched!! I could see him missing foods from his childhood, and going to festivals with his parents as a wee child. TToTT Here’s a doc by @lutrinaee if you want to see more about this headcanon from another voice! (Thanks for putting this together! <3<3)
Anyway! This is Keith donning an aó dài with a lion design (aha!), which I based off of the costumes for the Lion Dance Festivals in Vietnam. :> Thanks for reading <3

because tumblr doesn’t allow more than 10 photos, I’ll probably post the other 8 in separate posts
me at 3 am: sakura would look really nice in áo dài. i should draw her in áo dài.
my last braincell: everyone looks good in áo dài. go to sleep.
my last braincell: also you can’t even draw, fuck you.
A while ago I was asked about the construction of the Vietnamese Ao Dai and Chinese Cheongsam/Qipao. I had a few dresses at my disposal and figured it would be fun to do a compare and contrast. Due to the small collection, I was only able to photograph a few samples (all tailored circa 2000s, except one I’m sure…). This basically just covers the “classic” tailoring styles of Ao Dai and Cheongsam/Qipao. The latest trends may not adhere to it!
NOTE: For simplicity’s sake, I primarily used the word Cheongsam (Cantonese) instead of Qípáo (Mandarin) because its wider use as an English loanword.
In an ao dai mood today so have a rose!

((She looks so regal! Process sketches will be up on my art account, @ravioliguacamole
Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to answer more emoji asks and hopefully will move onto normal asks in my inbox!))
Gift for @siartha of her ATLA character, Fei-An
I forgot to upload this when I drew it back in May
So nobody is gonna talk about how pretty Ao Dais are? Okay…
