it was strange how even the air outside tasted different now. towa city’s air purifiers were no longer being maintained, so it was inevitable that they’d begin to break down. it had barely taken any time at all. komaru had to wonder if this was the work of the remnants she’d heard about, monaka herself, or perhaps just nature at work.
but komaru wasn’t one given to introspection, at least not for long. she preferred to move and be active. so she stretched and inhaled the bitter morning air, readying herself for another day in the hell she’d chosen to stay in.
the streets were clear, for the moment. she didn’t see any monokumas or children-- at least, at first. but then she caught sight of long, dark hair billowing in the wind, and she couldn’t help but gawk for a moment as the figure began to move away.
then she remembered herself.
“hey!” she called out, taking a few steps forward, hacking gun in hand. “heeeeyyyy!!” she’d never seen this person before. she was certain she’d remember such an imposing figure.
