The 'lit' effect on the cigarette is little orange beads sewn on. The pinfeathers are also beads sewn on. Baby Smoko is likely a nestling white winged dove, despite being labelled as a "pigeon" in the original stock photo.

this literally Happened To Me and was the happiest day of my life.. i noticed a slug on my peperomia when i got home (u can see his slime all over the pot).. i had to give him a proper place to sit (the mini fairy garden butterfly bench). i’m unsure about his whereabouts shortly thereafter but i like to think i gave him a bit of happiness
Tina's Tin Fish Thursdays
this is a zine I made for my bestie's bday :-) we would go to Tina's, a bar in Pittsburgh, PA, every Thursday and try a new fish on their menu every time we went. we documented our ratings for each fish (our favorite was the octopus). this was the first "book" I've ever made! its really a zine but I used an awl and I bound that sucker with thread & everything...
my original vision was to typewrite everything but I was using the local library's typewriter and that shit was so loud and ran out of ink so I had to ditch that idea. the textured green paper you see throughout is paper I made myself! I added green dye as well as rose petals. the sardine can is iridescent/reflective but looks strange upon scanning it. the scanner also made it look a lot less vibrant than it looks irl... images were printed at CVS because who the hell has a printer these days (if you know me and you own a printer please let me know I have So Many Ideas that require a printer).
featuring many doodles, paintings, stickers from my childhood sticker collection (I've been collecting them since I was 4 tehe), collages, images, glitter, textures, fabric, "stolen" boxes from the fish we were served, & even an original Tina's menu (hence the size/shape of the zine (please forgive us))!
my favorite page is the one where we're listening to music.. you can switch out the album we are listening to in the iPod (the albums are what we would typically be listening to together which would also typically be the music we would sing at our local gay bar's karaoke night). I made the screen with the clear plastic part of an envelope (where you would normally see your address). and I love the thread I added to mimic the headphones we are sharing hehe.
this was a lot of fun to make & took much time & love.
the library asked me to donate a version of this to their local zine collection but we shall see....
