Question for gluten-free people in France
I've just come back from holiday and had a really hard time finding gluten-free food (not counting fruit & veg) that didn't have a 'may contain gluten' warning on it.
It was everywhere. Sushi, buckwheat galettes, salads, a pot of beans. It was very strange. I usually react to products with 'may contain' warnings back home so I avoid them, but they're not on nearly as many products as they are in France.
So my questions is, does France easily throw 'may contain' warnings on everything or is it actually there for good reason?
interruptions and packing aside, hurray hurray, it's a holiday! :D
also forecast's saying there's gunna be a heat wave. so now half my wardrobe is in my suitcase because I don't wanna get stuck with clothes that turn out to be no good for hot weather ^^'
Oh, you're doing last minute packing for your holiday? You go tomorrow? Great! Let's all knock on the door to chat, inform you of a viewing to tidy for, phone to say goodbye for the 2nd time today. That won't keep you from packing at all!
-_- People! Really? Shoo!
3rd viewing of the week. It's really nice inside, has a garden, is very quiet despite being right above town's main square.
But the agent got a bit pushy. I said I'd have a think and asked if I wanted to could I bring my Dad with me to see it. Oh yes, he said, and then started asking when he could come look. How about tomorrow? Thursday? Friday before your boat to France leaves?
Er, no? I don't have any time off work until the day we go, still haven't packed etc. Oh, I just don't want you to lose it, he said.
I was SO close to snapping that I wouldn't mind losing it.
And then realised that ah, clearly this isn't the place for me then. ^^'
It's nice n all, but I don't like where it is, don't like the bin-lined steps to reach the building, or the narrow stairs up to the apartment. I didn't like walking past the busy square to reach it either, which I'd have to do daily to get to work and back.
I don't want to live there, and I'm almost glad he got pushy 'cause otherwise I would've spent another sleepless night trying to convince myself to buy it.
Got fed up of dealing with a friend/colleague being incredibly negative, argumentative, childish and stubborn to the extreme. So I've been trying to give myself space from them outside of work.
It's SO hard not to message someone you're used to talking daily, but I did it! Until today, when I saw a funny facebook comment and sent it without thinking. ^^'
Thankfully it hasn't sent her off on one. Good to know that flies are a safe subject to talk about xP
2 things that really annoy me about coeliac disease.
1 -The cost. I saw a loaf of GF brown bread being sold for £4 in the shop this week. It wasn't fancy bread. It wasn't miraculously normal sized slices, or even a whole loaf. It was the typical half loaf of tiny slices of not great tasting bread, and they were selling it for a whopping £4. Tell me how that's fair.
2 - People not believing that I can react to traces of gluten. I haven't had anything with gluten in the ingredients since being diagnosed. Every time I've been glutened it's been due to cross contamination. Trialling a 'may contain'. Not washing my hands before eating after passing someone a croissant (yes, that was stupid of me). And yet people still act like they think I'm making it up when I tell them what made me sick. -_-
KILL BLUE GETS A SECOND SEASON! WOOP WOOP!
I was so scared it'd get cut off after one season. Very glad that's not the case!
Asked dad to get his travel agent lady to find us a couple of guest houses/apartments to stay at while in France. A month ago. The trip's now less than three weeks away and it's still not booked S:
She seems to be really good at booking last minute holidays, but a bit rubbish at booking things in advance
Lesson learned = as nice as help sounds, sometimes if you want something done quickly it's best to do it yourself.
Kill Blue is making me wish there was a knb replace anime. I wanna see the miracles having some wacky, drama-free fun too!

the teachers comments and attendance is frying me 😭😭😭
Been having a battle of the bruises at work with the receptionist. She showed me a small dark bruise that you can just about see through her tan. I showed her the big grey/blue/yellowy blotch on the back of my leg.
I think I won xP
Poor thing, she's dying from cringe 😔
