Backstory:
alliah desai was born to a shop keeper in a rural part of india. she does not know where, because at the age of 3, her parents died, and she somehow found her way to Bombay, she ended up in an orphanage. she was there until she was 10 when someone adopted her. well that was what she thought. it turned out to be a human smuggler. she was tossed around different places, usually as the servant to the madam who adopted her. luckily she was never made to work in the trade her boss controlled
when she was 16, someone tried to assault her on the streets on bombay, and she attacked them. all the rage, fear, anger, and sadness came out. she was quick and swift. a dangerous gangster was watching. he liked what he saw. so he paid the madam for alliah’s freedom, and started training her for 2 years as an trained assassin. on her 18th birthday she was ready.
she has been sent to england to wait for instructions on her target. she is deeply sad, but does not show it. she will not kill, even for her boss, unless its a good reason. she is paid well, but she will only kill if its necessary. she secretly longs to get out.
he was on his way home, his hands had been shoved deep into his pockets as he continued forward. it had been a long day and he had gathered a few things for his princess and it was time to relax for the rest of the evening. he didn’t even notice the person in front of him at first until she turned around and made herself known. “i think i’ll be able to take care of myself,” he stated with a small smile, “thank you for the concern though.”
alliah shrugged ❝suit yourself.❞ she paused ❝do you often travel by yourself at night?❞ she did not want to judge him, but hardly anyone out at night ever had a good reason. she very much counted herself in that group. after all, she was getting familiar with london, so when she was sent her instructions, she would be able to carry out her mission. however, she was not scared. she was a trained killer, and anything that came across her way, she was able to handle.
with ink stained fingers, theo left the printers for the day, locking up the shop behind himself. thankfully, his mentor and boss trusted him enough to cover the late shift, and that meant that he was able to get any new issues of lady whistledown’s saga printed before the day’s end. today it seemed that there wasn’t going to be an issue to print, so he decided to treat himself to an early finish. his gaze moved through the darkness, squinting a little in hope of it allowing him to see better. he made his way out from the back alley, and into the street, the street lamps allowing him an easier time at finding his way home. seeing a figure at the opposite side of the street, theo then tipped his head to the side, studying them. “is everything alright? it’s rather late.. you probably should not hang around too long on this side of town after dark.” theo warned, brows drawing in concern for the other.
alliah was walking the streets of london on her own. she had only been here 3 days, and while waiting to hear what her assignment would be, she decided to get to know the city. it would make it easier to do her mission. it was why her boss sent her out early. alliah was usually more cunning and stealth on the streets. maybe she was loosing her touch because she heard someone’s voice. ❝trust me, i am more frightening that anything on the streets.❞
alliah had found out the sharma's had been staying at a lady agatha danbury's home. she thought it would be nice to see them. she smiled at mary, the mother. if alliah had known her own mother, she would've wished she was just like mary. ❝thank you, i will not stay long.❞ alliah had no doubt mary knew her line of work, but they never spoke about it.
𝐒he had been looking for answers ever since her sister’s death and it wasn’t the people she met by day that could provide her with the information she needed . ilayda knew that she wasn’t supposed to be out this late , nor was she supposed to be dressed up in men’s clothing and roam around dark alleys . however, the darkness clothed her in a veil of false safety and even when someone talked to her , she did not feel as if she needed to be scared. Instead it was rather the feeling of being disturbed , inconvenienced even . “ i see no reason why I should not be outside .” she answered, her head still turned away as she attempted to speak in a lower tone, hoping that her true identity would not be revealed . “ unless you plan to rob me .”
alliah looked at the women ❝it is dangerous at night,❞ she began ❝you never know what lurks around every corner❞ alliah was used to living on the streets, and for the most part, no one ever saw her. however she hadn’t been laying as low as she usually did, other wise this women would not have snuck up on her. ❝i am not a thief, however there are worse things than being robbed❞ she flashed to her time in india, and other places she traveled for her job. she did not want to scare the women, after all, it shouldn’t be like that, but she was also not someone who would let an innocent get hurt. no one had helped her, but she couldn’t just stand by and let things like that happened.
alliah had entered the hastings house through a window. she had been asked to meet the duke of Hastings here. she had come across simon basset when he was traveling, and she had helped him. he had become something of a friend, and she offered to find out which mothers would be the most “cunning” so he could avoid them. she was in the shadows waiting for him. ❝hello your grace❞
