More than a arc of despair I would said Sword would have a arc of untrust. I mean the Redcliff are using him to enter in the crhuch even if that put Sword in danger (more when Grappling know that Sword isn't working for them and he put his life in danger twice to save one of them), not only that, he also is discovering that Medkit is helping a dangerous chruch (even if he is still wants to help him and ask to Medkit whats goin on, is probably still very shocking), Darkheart isn't helping neither and even Venomshank hide the Lost Temple inccident from him (even if that his spawn place and the inccident probably happen a before or after Sword spawn).
My point it wouldn't be surprise if everthing make Sword having trust issues or start to don't trust in anybody, like imagined his reaction when he discover that he has sfoth blood and that Venomshank hide that from him for years or that Zuka is working with the chruch and he start to suspect to Rocket or something like that
HONESTLY you put it in better words than i could EVER express anon. I do think sword would still have a period of despair, but a period of distrust and trust issues would definitely make so much more sense. Im very excited to see how it plays out
