This year has been one of many firsts, among them being leading my first trad route and starting my first job as a PA. However, I want to stop putting so much value on firsts and say that I’m thankful that some of these experiences will not be lasts. Here’s to many more nights out with incredible people and days breathing in crisp air on mountaintops.

I love how music transforms moods and people. I loves how it takes you to different places, away from reality or steeps you deep in the harshness of your current reality. It can chill in the background like a wallflower at a party or pull you into the deepest meditation. Calms your mind, while bringing every fear to the surface. I feel like different people, like I assume different identities, listening to different tunes - an angsty teenager, an old soul, a flapper, a lovestruck fool, someone without a care in the world.
Being funemployed has been time for me to reflect and dive deep into myself and my previous interests before PA school and new interests - music, painting, writing, exploring the city, climbing, yoga, finding a sense of self.
I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it.
right now, I’m sitting on a bed in the room most of my childhood was spent in. A black tea candle is melting, the fan carrying the warm scent throughout the air in this space. The flower curtains are drawn and I am enjoying the natural light peeking through the window as I sip on some water out of a mug. I feel somewhat calm, somewhat restless, somewhat somber, but definitely full from a biscuit, egg, and hash brown breakfast that I made myself- the first meal I have cooked for myself in a while. I haven’t written or created in so long and my deprivation has caused my ability to express and process my emotions to suffer. As I attempt to express through this post, I feel my humanity returning. It’s still stifled and my creative juices are dammed, but a small leak is forming from the walls I have built up for so long and a small stream is beginning to emerge.
I spent the last month, last year even, trapped in a toxic relationship with myself and now I want to live and thrive. I went climbing at Great Falls yesterday with a vibrant and beautiful individual and after 2 lackluster climbs, we decided to explore. I followed him, rock scrambling in bare feet, my helmet and gear thrashing around my hips and harness. We scoped out where to set up anchors and talked about life. Then we eased into the water and waded around, the threat of the strong current feet away from us. Packing up and walking back to our cars, we fist-bumped with promises of a summer full of climbing. Last night, I came alive.
6.1.19 Gunks Bouldering and Trad- did a V2 and V3 (Black Boulder?) and lead Laurel (5.7) aka “the most polished route in the Gunks”.

05.20.19 Lead my first two trad routes at the Gunks today. Thin Slabs 5.7+ and Sente 5.9
5.4.19 The force was def with me today at Peter’s Kill. Wore my Star Wars shirt without realizing the date and sent some fun climbs w cool peeps. Excited for GoT tomorrow.
4.27.19 Baker Mountain
It’s a nice sunny day and I should be outside, but I don’t want to drive for a hike. I was regretting heading to the climbing gym, but I just had an amazing surge of energy/focus and I flew through the grand traverse and jumped off out of exhaustion after making it into the lead cave. Farthest I’ve ever gotten. Psyched!!
